I just got a 10yr spec 2.

.......

1) Power Lag at RPM 4K - 4.5K

Bike kinda hit a flat spot or loss power at this range. Then goes back to normal.

Could it be carb setting

2) Fuel consumption at 15km/l on first tank.

Maybe i'm not used to the bike yet. Or could it be linked to point 1, power lag due to carb setting?

3) The top of the engine where there is a rubber seal, in between there is slight oil seepage. is this normal?

I'm refering to the part where the silver coloured top cover (valve cover?) meets the black engine block. where there is 2 sliver round thingy there. The gap at the rubber seal has slight seepage.

4) Rapid ticking sound from engine when decelerating under medium to heavy engine braking. Slight ticking sound when blip throttle on neutral. What is the cause of it? valve clearance? Cam chain?

......

I'm currrently using a version S. I ride to the city area (City hall, Orchard) often, so alot of stop start happens, can't save too much using the throttle. haha. Well, but on clear nights I usually manage about 25km/l when im cruising, i.e not stop-starting.

does anyone knows how does a CDI affect FC??

if a faulty CDI has been repaired, can this increase FC?

I used to get 23km/L on vtec1 but now i get 18.6km/L.

carb, air filter, EO, coolant, etc are well taken care.

I pump only in spore.

by right full tank is 18L...my bike oso same...once reserve immediately go pump till full tank it reads 14+-L only...i tot super4 15L then will reserve one o_O

Hmm.. when you pump, do you fill it to the Top brim?

By doing so, it helps to add in couple of more litres into the tank, directly increases more travelling distance. This is how my image reads 18.65L. It makes a difference to the numbers that people post on this forum.

I'm clocking 364km at 15L with Yoshimura Full System before hitting reserve. that works out to be 24km/l. been clocking this mileage for two months already. 90km-110km rider.

Actually e sensor for fuel level is not accurate. If urs is digital fuel guage, u will notice if e meter may be showing reserve while ur bike is side stand then during upright position, e guage shows 1 or 2 bar.

Even during riding e guage may change from 1 or 2 bar to reserve becoz of e G force pushing e fuel in e tank away from sensor. So base on mileage and ur pwn calculations may be more accurate.

Hi S4 riders...would like to know better abt S4..currently riding Yamaha FZ150i &worst FC is 29km/ltr (130-145kmh) (riding full throttle in vry heavy rain, with strong wind, with pillion&heavy things from JB-KL) ...i'm riding my small bike 2 anywhr in m'sia & thai (Mileage 91000km in 2yr 4mth fr FBE bike)...i do weekly ride from KL-Spore as i'm studying at KL& working in s'pore on w'ends...

So,my question is which type of S4 is d best FC fr cruising 140-150kmh??

take note dat i didnt like to decellerate/brake whn riding at NSE...if got slow cars/lorry/bus infront,i'll squeeze btwn cars or go directly 2 road shoulder,as so d speed will be more constant...power of bike is not my prority, but good FC is d most important thing as i may ride up to 5000km per mth...

My current bike FC averages on 34-36km/ltr fr solo riding w/o box on 125-135kmh... 12ltr tank can go up to 460km fr long distance riding..

S'pore ride will be 38-43km/ltr most of d time (as i rev hard almost redline cz hate d red traffic lites)

Hi @SKG_86,

The difference between the FC of FZ150i and S4 is v big, u might not be used to it. I experienced this when I upgraded to revo.

I used to get a FC of 31-35km/L for my Fz 150i and my current FC for my revo is about 20-22km/L.

From the trend, it seems that the cabourator versions of s4 has better FC. It can go up to 25km/L.

Maybe you can ask around.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

I just got Spec 2 not long ago. So far, There is only 1 time that my tank completly empty & the mileage was 383km (Shell V power).

Ever since then, I have not pump Shell V-power n opt for Esso 8000 instead. So far, I don't dare to go higher than 370km was because i'm worried that the tank might empty.

My question is, Will Esso 8000 petrol clock high mileage than Shell Vpower?

All depend on your riding style n oso your wrist plays a part..

For my Spec3, i get about 360km before reserve.. So if till bone dry, shud be + about 60more KM.. Average i gettin per tank abt 420-410KM if Im NOT-Throttle-Happy

Not to worry about Carb-Version s4.. we no need to worry about our FuelPump getting hot or watever shyt..

HaiR1,

Thanks. What is the petrol that u using?

For those Spec2/3 rider, as i guide, 1Bar gives u roughly about 60km..

so 60km x 6Bar (before Reserve) = about 360km + another 60km for reserve shud get about 400km

all this SUBJECT to the condition of the bike, EO,OF,SP,Chain,Riding Style,Engine Condtion,Tyre n ect

Hi everyone.

I just changed my pistons for my spec 1 and had my carb tuned. Currently running in engine, but I got a problem with the fuel consumption. I'm running at 13L/km . Is it normal when bike is running in?

What is avg fuel consumption for spec1? A throttle friendly driver.

Thanks for the advise.
