This general circular from Office of Estates (OES) serves as a gentle reminder to all against unauthorized and illegal parking. The wheel clamp policy that has been implemented in RP since 2008 is as follows:

1. On the first offence, RP Security will issue the 1st warning notice titled “Notice for unauthorized and illegal parking” to inform errant drivers that they have parked at the unauthorized area or not at the designated parking lot. The license plate number and photos of errant vehicles will be taken down for OES’ record.

2. Drivers who are 2nd and repeat offenders shall be wheel-clamped by security.

3. Vehicles which are wheel-clamped will have to pay a release fee of $50.00 (inclusive of GST) to have their vehicle unclamped. This fee shall exclude any parking charges that the vehicle may have incurred subsequently. Payment shall be made by NETS only at One-Stop-Centre (OSC) at Republic Polytechnic Centre (RPC) during office hours or at the Fire Command Centre (FCC) after office hours.

4. Upon payment approval from NETS , security will record the NETS receipt no. for reference and release the wheel clamp.

5. You shall note that RP shall not be liable for any damages to any motor vehicles due to the wheel clamping or towing away or any other damage which is otherwise incurred during the period when the vehicle is immobilized by a wheel clamp.

 

On the issue of observing traffic rules, it has come to OES’ attention that some drivers are driving haphazardly by speeding or driving against the traffic especially in our carparks. OES would like to remind all drivers to maintain the speed limit while driving in the car park/campus and not to drive against the traffic and follow the road markings.
