for rotary dampers, only GPR is available for fz1, not even fz6 if i'm not wrong, i may be lost touch from their catalog alr.. hahaha..

anyway, GPR rotary damper had been serving me since day 1 when i got my fz1, which is like 1 yr 10 mths alr.. so far so fantastic.. hahaha..

Well, Im riding the FZ1N, so i believe they should have something for me. Could you advice me on where you made the purchase and the approximate amount u spent on when you got it>?

i think this explains all.. hahaha.. :D i lazy to elaborate.. :p

"A steering damper, steering stabiliser or sprint damper is a damping device designed to inhibit an undesirable, uncontrolled movement or oscillation of a vehicle steering mechanism, a phenomenon known in motorcycling as wobble, or in extreme cases, a tank-slapper. Modern motorbikes are unlikely to exhibit this behaviour in daily use thanks in part to better dampers and due to their very stiff front ends and other general improvements in design and tyre technology."

Ya i read tat post already. Becoz i remember another time i asked a question but realise i should google first... ^^

The reason y i asked even after reading the wiki is, fz1 should be considered "modern" bikes already? And i see ur signature, should be 07 or later? So just wondered whether u had additional reasons to install this accessory.

So far my bike up to 160km/hr, i dun feel any need to ve damper. Maybe i ve to try even higher spd before i can decide... =D

i think you can get the necessary info from GPR stabilizer web (not the GPR exhaust web)..

but i believe that it's compatible with both S & N models unless you change ur handlebar cramp (not too sure wad they call that as)..

i got it at eBay via a oversea distributor for GPR at ard SGD 750..

mine is a 10 model.. :)

my point is simple.. if u dun feel that u have that need, u dun need to get that.. :)

but if u wanna go higher than 160km/hr and/or u encountered any kind of undesirable, uncontrolled movement or oscillation of a vehicle steering mechanism, a phenomenon known in motorcycling as wobble, or in extreme cases, a tank-slapper (LOL!), u can considered getting a damper.. hahaha.. :D

hi pichudot,

Bought my bike brand new. but now not so brand new liao. haha. the tyre is still the stock tyre that came with the bike. the box is H&B Journey TC52 with metal rack.

HBTC52railingbackrest-500x500.jpg

It does shake violently when i let it go at around 40-50km/h. I dare not let it go handsfree for more than 2-3 seconds as I could hear the metal banging, not sure from where though. i was just afraid of the inevitable tank-slap if i let the handlebar goes handsfree any longer.

Makes me wonder whether it's due to weight of the box and metal rack are the cause of the handlebar shake lol.. handling is a bit weird now.

like shaky hands? hahaha..

anyway, my handlebar does not shake and i have 3 boxes permanently up on my bike on both local & oversea rides.. but i have a GPR rotary damper on.. :)

btw, how violently does ur handlebar shakes? kinda weird cus even with boxes, it shouldn't shake that violently.. can i know yours is a brand new bike or 2nd hand?

no need to worry, just renew ur insurance, after that just go to any axs station to renew ur road tax, they will send u a new one anyways with the next expiry date. no need to cancel the expiry date if u do it manually.

Road tax $250 is correct. My insurance is 3rd party fire and theft. Also known as "2nd party" (think this term not used commonly by insurance company). $791.

I'm 31 and riding for 11 years.

With ntuc now. But i buy through agent. My agent is "one stop insurance". I'm e lazy type. Maybe i should work a bit and check direct ntuc is how much. :(

Thanks for reply. Wow...that's nearly thrice of what I'm paying now (for my present class 2a bike).

From the owner manuals, I notice that for 2011-12 models, the recommended plugs are NGK/CR9E.

But for 2010 model, it's CR9EK.

Think someone in this thread mention abt using CR10EK plugs right? What is the difference between them all?

i feel yamaha engines especially fazers are not suitable for thinner engine oil viscosity e.g 40.. they seems to function better in 50 or even 60 (if you doesn't bother abt the weight)..

anyway, i myself using motorex 10w60, still loving it.. :thumb:

i also enhanced the air flow to max for my fz1 & cr10ek plugs + i don't use the original stock lousy coolant.. maybe becus of these, i don't have much of a heat problem.. :)

where u get the motorex oil n how much? u using so thick oil n high rev no prob? i nvr try that kinda thick oil b4...

ur air flow max is after the air box mod rite? me using coolaide. mayb change to belray coolant for the next change. me using iridium 9 rating plugs, no diff with 10 rating leh..

performances is at ur wrist.. hahaha.. :D

yup.. colder plugs.. :)

colder plugs but no effect on anything watsoever leh.
