Where did you get you frame coated? And also the crankcase cleaning / polishing?

Dave

sorry for the late reply bro. my friend got it coated at a chrome shop in kallang bahru. the crankcases are not polished, just cleaned up. the engine covers are polished though. my advice (thru personal experience) polish the alloy parts and chrome the steel ones. they last longer if you maintain them. :thumb:

Saw a Malay gentleman on a nice RD250 this morning bearing **2061 plate on my way to work. :thumb:

Sounded sweet and looked in tip top condition. Does not have the 2T smoke coming out from the exhaust like I see some examples. Anyone from here perhaps?

how fast can this legend go? my dad told me he used to ride one. he rides a wave now and always asks me to ride slowly. i wonder if he really was a careful/slow/defensive rider or a maniac when he was on the road in his younger years.

I'm looking for RD 350 rightside choke.. any ideas on where to get it?

both the LC and RD have the choke mechanism screwed in on the left carbs only. it's connected to the right carb by a hose. are u sure you are having the correct carbs on yr bike?

why not discuss that with yr dad over some alcoholic drinks? i'm sure he'll spill the beans!!! better still , look around yr house for those old photos of him with the bike and confront him(in a nice way of course). he'll be more than happy to tell. my dad used to ride one back in the 80s well into the 90s. and judging from the old photos, he was no angel either!!! yes the bike was fast if tuned and modded properly. they were capable of smoking the bigger bikes including TPs and ROVs. but u have to take note that 4 stroke bikes back then were very heavy and clumsy whereas the 2 strokes were light and nimble. that was then. now if u want yr 350 to perform, u have to embrace new technology. use lighter rims, better engine components and good braking stuff. at the end of the day it's yr choice, stock or all out modification. enjoy!!!

A couple of riders I met last week have mentioned that there is a RD500 in a shop at Alexandra being done up for sale, FE plate. They can't remember the name of the shop however. Has anyone seen it or know what shop this is please. I appreciate your help if you know anything.

Met another Malay rider on a FD plate RD250 yesterday. Gave him the thumbs up at the lights and he told me the bike was 26 yrs old. :)

Rzboy, you're the man when it comes to RD/RZ bikes here :thumb::thumb::thumb:

never seen a rd250 on the road before..

The rd/rz250lc came with single disc upfront, single horn and pressed in sprocket studs at the rear wheel. the 350s had twin discs, twin horns and detachable sprocket hub( similar to RXZ). As the 250s were cheaper(insurance,rd tax), many owners back then converted these to 350s. It was simple swop over case. Many parts were available back then including the heads and cylinders. Papers wise, they are still 250s. My advice, don't go bragging around to arouse the authorities if u had done these especially the cylinder conversion. another giveaway is the frame or engine serial no. The 250s had 4L1 or 5E1 stamped on them. 350s had 5J5, 4L0 or 4U0. The YPVS250s and 350s were exactly identical. The only way to tell them apart is again the serial nos. 38K-250s, 31K,1WT,1UA 350s. Another way is to look cylinder stamp mark, 247cc or 347cc.:)

Thanks for the compliments bro. I'm sure there's quite a no of bros out there who are very knowledgeable when it comes to 350s. For me, it's the passion which keeps me going. Nevermind the occassional negative comments. Guess i'm a 350 freak!!!:cheer:
