A lot of guys in the US run Amsoil. Not sure if we can find it here. I ride a Fi 96 ci, which runds hot so I use synthetic oil - the heat in Singapore will break down the mineral oil. But if you change it regularly, it should not matter.

Whats wrong with SE synthetic, other than the price? I dont mind the price as my scheduled changes are at 6km or 6 months

Pricing paid for SE is not worth for the quality...

rather pay more for motul 300V which i been using for my jap bikes..lol

Yup Synethic oil run cooler... Experience it 1st hand my self when switch to mineral oil...hmm

Seem like I pay the new shop a visit....

any idea nid to make any appointment & stuff...?

There are too many stupid drivers (esp those without a biike license)!!!!

Oil is a personal choice. As long as you change it and the filter, should all be fine.

VTwins - He said best to call beforehand.

I agree on stupid car drivers. But these days, I see a lot of bad bike riders.

Just as a poll, how slow must traffic be before you split lanes? For example, I normally wont split lanes unless traffic is below 40kph and then only ride about 10 kph more than traffic. But then thats because my bigger bike doesnt handle that well at slow speeds and I know my bike is loud and annoying to other drivers. I rarely see other Harleys commuting to work, but I ride more ever sense I sold my car. But those little bikes fly by at 90+ and I can understand if a car hits one if it changes lane when traffic is slow. There is no way the driver can see that far behind when the speed gap is 50 kph or more (car driving 40kph and bike at 90kph).

Is it actually legal to split lanes in Singapore?

Same mate, I use my Sporty to commute to work...

Punggol to Tuas To & Fro 80km

Sorry but split lane u mean squeeze in between traffic?

if that is so....

there is no rules on that...

TP cannot fault U on that (there is no offence )

but TP can charge U under dangerous or reckless riding....

In all developed countries, a motorcycle should be given and usually has the same amount of space on the road as a car would have. This is the law. Because this is practiced, there really isn't a need for motorcyclists there to "split-lanes".

In SG however.. many drivers (taxi drivers especially) see a motorcycle on the lane next to him as a chance to change lanes. Because our bikes are smaller than the cars, it somehow justifies them squeezing into our lane and forcing us to to the edge of our lane.. which leads to us splitting-lanes anyway.

Then again if all motorcyclists in Singapore had 1 car space and occupied one proper lane all the time instead of splitting lanes, our traffic jams would be far worse.

So i guess the "chicken and egg" question applies here.

Just my two cents.

If it has t!ts or a kickstand, I can ride it.

I hear what your saying. Bikers have the right to space on the road. I am just saying a lot of us bikers abuse this right and split/squeeze traffic when the traffic is flowing along. If the posted speed limit is 90 kph and traffic is moving along at 60 kph, should bikers squeeze through traffic at 90 kph as is legal or move along with traffic at 60 kph. Because some of us split traffic, gives a bad image (and is unsafe) to all bikers. Myself, have no confidence to split traffic above 60 kph. My biggest squeeze is moving up past the queue at traffic lights. I dont see much harm if there is space and car is not moving. But I know they didnt teach me this in traffic school ;)

There's no right or wrong I guess. It's just a matter of adjusting your riding style to suit traffic conditions. Unfortunately, many riders (on both small and big bikes) don't know the difference.

If it has t!ts or a kickstand, I can ride it.

Yup saw many a time TPs, ROVs, Cisco spilt lanes but do it carefully....

hence as said there is no offence in splitiing lanes but may b charged under dangerous or reckless driving...

I remember I love squeezing in traffic esp with a TP squeezing in front of me...lol haha

Y dun u guys just try jump start from a car...... :) save the trouble of pushing start the bike

yup, i've done both...

but it's much easier to jump start with a car, just need to pop the bonnet...

with bike, u need to remove the cover to the battery and remember to rev the engine a little in order not to drain the battery too much...

Sigh! My bike can't start. Battery flat again. Didn't ride for only 7 days. Does the iu unit consume a lot of juice? How long can u not start before it goes flat? My batt is only a year old.

Could be a bad battery. When I bought my first harley here, the battery went dead after about a month. The dealer replaced it for free.

Did you buy it at the dealer? Have them (or whereever you bought from) check the battery or maybe some other issue.

Yes, bought it from them but don't think I can find the receipt. Recall it wasn't cheap... I think I gotta get myself a battery charger...

Hey dude, could be the same problem as mine; loose battery connector? Anyhow looks like I'm leaving the HD family soon. Off to Sweden for nearly a year come year end so I'm not gonna be keeping the Nightster.

You should not hold on to it since u will be away for a year especially since u have not spent enough time with it to really get attached to it :) maybe u can get one in Sweden? Hehe...

Unlikely man. The portion I'm going to is 400 miles south of the North pole. -15 average temp and ice all over the roads. You need spiked tires to get any vehicle running so I probably won't be getting a bike while I'm there.

Anyway, I think HD is really not my cup of tea. I'm still a hardcore type rider, so no easy riding stuff for me haha. I figured with all the effort I put in trying to make my bike work like a sport bike I might as well just get a sport bike.
