Its pretty fast to change the pipes, but for my Fuel injected model, tuning needs to be done when termis pipes are fitted on. So maybe u can check if urs needs to be tuned. But havent gone for inspection so far and not for the next 2 yrs :cheeky:

Hi fweddy, mine is also 2005 model. 1 year old bike. just bought it a few months ago from the owner. Everything is stock. Read that you have a pair of termi. May i know where did you get yours and which workshop do you go to have it fixed and for tuning? How many years do i have before inspection time. The bike is registered in 2006

I am still trying to get use to the bike. May i also ask, at what speed do you hit the 6th gear. I tried the 6 at 110 km/h , the bike feel slow. But 5th gear at 110km/h, the bike feel a lot better.

I am new to biking so not very sure. I change gear when the rev meter hit 4. Is that wrong? sorry for all the questions.

Thank you

Hello Moonster,

You don't have to look at or depend on the tacho for changing gear. Just change gear when you feel the bike screaming or reving too high. Feeeeeeeel the bike. Older Monsters do not come with tacho. It should come naturally. And you are right, normally it's time to change gear when the tacho hits around 3000-4000rpm. I did notice that but I don't change gear by looking at the tacho. Keep my eyes on the road instead :):):)

I ordered mine from Minerva Motor and was installed by them too, together with the tuning and all. Call Ismail if you are interested in ordering a set for yourself :)

As for inspection, it depends how many yrs of warranty ur bike has, supposing 3 yrs, then u have prob 2 more yrs before its due to inspection if your bike is registered in 2006. Just a query, is ur bike a fuel injected model or carb model?

I usually hit the 6th gear right about 80kmph of 4200 rpm. As yohji said, feeling the gear shift is more important yeah.

However on my personal riding exp of the bike, i shift around 5K rpm at a relaxed and nice acceleration. from 1k + to 4K rpm, it pulls but from 4-5k rpm, its a bit sluggish at that part due to emission requirements i belive, so theres a slight power cut there, but from 4800rpm onwards the power picks up all the way and i shift around that region. To go really a bit a faster, shift at 6k rpm. And you'll find ur 6th gear cruising very comfortable and smooth :)

HOpe it helps bro.

Cheers :)

Fweddy, mine is like yours fuel injected model. Do you know if Minerva workshop will do the changing of pipes for inspection?

Thank all

Yes im sure they will do it, its an hr job the most. Go for the inspection and switch it back, but thats in 2 yrs time, and inspection's not often either. Great to have termis, bet u wont regret it ;)

Hello blackreplica,

I have read that you actually installed the Ducati Racing Baffles.

After looking at the pictures, am I correct to say that basically,

1) the internals of the stock exhausts are removed and discarded?

2) the internals are topped up with a direct tube wrapped with fiber glass cloth?

3) the rivets are used because it is simpler compared to welding?

4) there is no significant improvement to bike except than it sounds a bit nicer?

5) any idea if there are impacts to other settings to the bike due to the change? (I read elsewhere that after changing to after market pipes, may have to change some chips also...) o_O

I am so glad to read about all this in the Monster forum.. wonder if the above applies to the 748... cos i have extra set of stock exhausts.. might as well do something to it......

I am very interested to meet up if you dont mind for a closer look...
