Guys i found this on Duke riders

Hi guys! After a VERY long hiatus from riding it time for me to get back on a duc. Been eyeing 2 models in particular: a hyper evo sp or second hand 1098s. I cant consider a HYM1100s used unfortunately because i REALLY REALLY want the higher ride height on the evo sp which IMO does wonders for its stance. Really wish i could find a used 1100 evo sp but i think its way too new.

Alternatively the 1098s used sounds really nice too. But its ergonomics and street manners and purpose may not suit me, i dunno. I came from the monster family and was happy with them. The 1098 sportbike riding position, 4v engine, and the fact that it will be used on sg streets 99% of the time make me think i may be getting a little over my head with this bike.

Anyone got any advice? Or should i just wait for a 2nd hand 1100 evo sp to turn up. God know when thats gonna happen

Anyway wanted to say hi too. Wonder if any of the old monster riders gang from about 4-5 years back are still here

I remember his posts from back when I was still finding out about the monster. He had the single sided swingarm conversion and 748 underseat tailpipes done right?

Hi guys! H@nn and dodo, nice to see you guys still here! How are you? Yes, the riding bug has hit again so maybe its time i got back. Anyone can advise me on my dilemma? LOL...to be honest though i am a little more keen on the hyper. Great looks, aircooled, street oriented, comfortable, and hooliganism galore. Just like the monster. Thats probably the direction ill end up going eventually, unless i come across a great deal on a 1098.

Btw some weeks back i drove by the kallang avenue industrial estate to pay mike a visit. Imagine my shock when i saw the building cordoned off for demolition or reconstruction. Is he still around, if so where has his legendary workshop gone?

Doh...i drove right past him and didn't even realise. Was too busy dropping my jaw at what happened to his old place. LOL.

Catching up with you guys again sounds like real fun. What a reunion it would be! Now, i just need to find myself a bike...... :)

hi again! LOL

they are both very different bikes that serve 2 very different functions and needs le. the hyper with the torquey 2v engine which does have a tendency to power out in corners (eerrmm also results in ppl crashing), a more upright riding postion when not back breaking. the 1098, high powered 4v engine. can be used as a daily ride if u can get used to the riding position.

hmm... Give Alvis a call, he might be able to share his experiences with daily riding and might have a kang tao on 1098.

but if u want the best of both worlds...got...Multistrada 1200

Multistrada very very tempting......

I'm with the DoDo on this one. Multistrada is a bloody awesome bike. You may also want to consider the classic series ie Sportclassic 1000, Sportclassic S monoposto or GT1000(I'm riding this one now and its awesomeR than my monster). Keep options open. Im not very pro sportbike so for feedback on 1098 or 1198, get in touch with Alvis, Alvin or Yap.

Thanks guys. Sportclassics are real rarities though, and i like the new multis but boy are they $$$$$!!!

Saw a nice tricolore multi today (the older model) outside mike's shop when i visited him today. Was really nice to catch up with him. He advised me to wait and wait for a good deal to pop up, sounds like good advice. He favours the 1098 and reckons its a great machine. Cant argue with him there!

Is there a hypermotard thread in this forum? Or any hyper riders here know what my options are if i wanted to raise the suspension on the pre-2011 models? Mike claims you can slide te clamps up the forks to raise the ride height but i'm not sure how much allowance exists on the forks to do this. There are plenty of good deals to be had on older 1100s. But they sit too low for my personal tastes. Buying a 2011 evo sp is doable for me i guess....but the depreciation hit on a new ducati is a bit much, especilly if im coughing it up for just a marginally higher and better suspension, a new paint scheme and an additional 5hp

"Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all" Somewhat appropriate quote I guess. Would love to meet up with you and find out more about the mods.

Is the ground clearance of the hyper what you're concerned with? I'm curious as to why you find it too low...there is a hyper thread in the forum, you can try asking ohayo there. He rides a new style hyper, not the sp though.

Thenation, yeah i just feel it sits too low. Its got the whole dirtbike-for-the-street look all sorted but when sitting on a street suspension height, i'm just a little underwhelmed. A couple inches higher and it would be perfect (for my own subjective tastes that is). I'm also about 6ft tall so i think i would look a little better sitting on it if the bike itself was a little higher too

Dude, simple. Rewrap the seat with 2 inch extra foam at Eugene. Or get some rear ride height adjusters for an inch or so. I'm tall too so experimented with a whole bunch of stuff when I had the monster.

Good luck!

haha yep solves half the problem! Unfortunately for the other half i've been checking around and cannot find a solution to increase the wheel to fender gap to make it more dirtbike-like. The top triple clamps on all hypers are already all the way to the top of the forks and no aftermarket fork with more length exists. Sob....back to the drawing board!
