Hey, I am thinking of getting some items from McLarry too. Do you want to combine order together? Maybe I can start a new combine order list again if you are interested?

Hi, I'm interested too. Pls let me know if there is any mass order. Thank you

Hi, did you change the connector by yourself? Where did you get the new connector from? Can it be bought from normal DIY shop? Got any place to recommend to get the gound spider connector?

have not done the full groundin yet.

connector not able to find locally in any shops (i have not found any yet).

these connectors can either get from overseas online shops or from HL (of cos with some self mod).

but problem with the overseas online shop which i had check previously got ridiculous shippin rates!

anyway will try to find time next wk to drop by HL to check on the price of the connectors and update u and all the bros here.

anyway ur start bike issue, as u hv guessed, is related to this spider problem but also to the ignition key set too.

in overseas like europe, yamaha had recalled to chg out this ignition set, but sadly, sg ones are said to be not the affected batches by HL (to me is BS, cos it's the same design, same maker, total same sh*t).

So hopefully the internal of ur ignition set still can last and not melt yet.... else......

Regarding my problem, I have decided to went to HL motor for servicing since they are expert in our bike. As expected, it is due to grounding connector and wiring being loose, thus causing sparks and traces of burnt marks can be seen on connector. Luckily the connector is not melted.

Mech tightened the connector and linked a bridging wire to both sides of wiring, thus bypassing the connector. Even if connector contact point become loose again, it will not cause sparks or electricity fault again.

I believe this is a common problem and hope that by putting it here, the future riders who experiences this problem can references to this thread.

Anyway, I have also sourced the component that can be purchased online to solve this issue with the grouding connector. The part is "yamaha genuine part 90891-30074" just google it and you can find it at ebay.

Cheers.

u r referring to the recalled made in 2011. during tt time, existing owner, incl me, received letter fm HL to get it fixed by them. what tt cable does is to increase the grounding path at the main cable harness ("sub" harness). but for those who's main cable shows sign of damage, will have the whole main harness chged out instead.

this cable only increase capacity of the main ground harness (path between batt to the 1st spider pt) and not the rest of the subsequent down stream. juz curious, do u know exactly at which pt of the spider bite at for ur case?

for me, after i did my recall hardness chg, then encounter the exact same start up problem u faced.

found out the bite is at pt 5.

done my own sub harness between pt 5 to 4.

and due to my laziness of not doin the rest of the pts, it melted the internal of my ignition key set (burned money to chg out 3).

in summary, wat i m tryin to say is tt the cable u installed is not a total solution to the spider bite problem. as recommended by the most overseas fjr owners, and i believe so too, is to increase all the grounding path and not juz the main cable side.

Yah, the spider bite happens in the front connector below the left head light assembly. It is the common spider bite which happens to many FJR. The recall is suppose to remedy this problem, but my bike was not being recalled because it is ''11 model and they only recall those older model. Apparantly, this issue will also happen to newer model and even 2013 according to HL mech.

Thus, i only mentioned this cable is only to solve the spider bite that I have. There are more severe cases of spider like yours. I know it is a pain to change the whole ignition system, because you have to change the ECU as well. Not cheap.... Not cheap at all.

I do agree with you to check on all spider connectors and try to add addition grouding paths to them. The main issue is not about the cable, but the contact point of the connector. Prolong milaege will loosen the contact point of the wires with the connectors and thus grounding is affected. Problem can be small like mine where some electronic malfunction, but it can also lead to more damaging issues if not handled promptly. In total, there are six spider connectors. Search on the web and find topic about FJR spider bite and you can read up more about it. It is good for riders to know their bike and their potential iissues.

Safe riding on the road guys!

Cheers.

Hi,

I have Front Fenda Extenda for FJR1300 bought from M-Tech. Suppose to fix onto my FJR1300 2013 model, unfortunately it's too long and rubs against the fairing belly when I move the handlebar. Probably not meant for 2013 model. Cost me about sgd40.

Intend to sell-off. Anyone interested can sms/watsapps @ 9697-1190.

Wat I normally do is to pour the old ones in the measuring cup and see the quantity. Then I put in e same volume. I dun think 1 fork use more than 1L. I might be wrong.
