yeah...get your carb cleaned and retune....old bike..jets/ diaphragm may need to be replaced..

you want good fc...get everything back to "new" conditions.

 

change all oils and filters..

check your spark plug gap...

check high tension sparking intensty..

clean and lbe chains regularly..

get chains tension properly..

etc etc...the list goes on..

 

maybe you need a major overhaul....if compression dont make it..

 

and finally your right hand wrist ontrol..

you dont want to ride a bike if cdi is bad.....its just a bad ride if bike still can move

 

the reason are many...bike perfomances do detiorate with time...

 

carburettor la. out of balance or air-fuel mixture needs to be re-tuned.

 

end of feb 2012, i went ah chong there to change engine top gasket and coolant, i saw the mechanics remove my carb. will this removal of carb affect the synchronisation? cus last year i went serviced and tuned my carb before.

my current idling is stable ard 1.5krpm but during rainy day, the needle start flunctate alot, can it be rain water seep into carb to cause this flunctation and affect FC?

coolant change from engine ice to maxima coolaide, now engine feel hotter, will this also affect FC?

 

spark plug and cap will check again.

 

the rest like chain, EO, oil filter got regularly carry out maintenance.

the last pump till now, i dont drag gear and slowly acceleration. still the same, less than 300km, reserve start blinking. last time 340 then start reserve blinking.

tyre pressure front 240 rear 280kpa.

for reference mine is 200 230. you carry heavy load? if not 220 250 is ok liao.

 

i highly suspect its your carb la, but your spark plug cap might be leaking rain water also, which affects the idling during rainy times.

nope i carry myself only 64kg haha i think i should lower down my pressure.

if rainwater can seeb into ur carb, u will have more problems than fluctuating idle. ur bike can't even run without opening throttle if got leak. so i bet its the tuning and synchronization might be off, like CSV mentioned. btw, if ur spark plug cap got water seep in, ur bike cant even run.

just came back from planet after letting ah chong tune my carb. saw him use long screwdriver adjust all 4 carb screws. he ask me to monitor first and the rest seem to be okay after test ride.

hopefully can get back my average 22-24km/L FC.

Can brake disc be reconditioned like car disc rotor?

I having pulsation during braking. very uncomfy with pillion behind.

When I spin the front wheel, it rotate freely except one particular spot where I feel resistance. I suspect the disc is out of plane at certain spot.

Bearing, pad, balancing & serviced caliper done not long ago.

YES IT CANBE DONE BUT THE COST AND DOWNTIME OF YOUR BIKE MAKE IT IMPRACTICAL....

your brake disc maybe warped...

time to change or wait for it to wear out...dont know how many disc pad need to do this...haha..this is not a goodsolution..in future yor pad wear will be horendous.

nope the bike is regularly maintained. just that, I changed one used pair disc from one shop, and I am inexperience to see the disc is out of plane until recently i realise that the braking is pulsating. I asked why like that, and he replied: "probably is damaged during changing of tyre and balancing". I feel quite strange is that, how can changing tyre and balancing damage a disc which is metallic. where got so easy to bend the disc.

 

now I have spent innocent money. hoping ah chong can help me think of a better way.

Different shop might have different bike specialise in with. u should be glad that they are honest to you when they tell u frankly that they don't do this particular bike. some shop might don't know act like they know how to do then this might worsen the situation.

furthermore, since u have yr regular mechanics at bukit batok, why u don't vist him with yr bike problem? yr mechanics will be more familiar to it.

lolx.. yup.. he dun do scooter at all as the parts are restricted, not universal.. so he mentioned to me, scooters have their own specialist so he recommend them to go back.. he doesn't carry belt or scooter parts as well..

Decided to bite the bullet and travel from Jurong to Planet Motors to get my bike serviced.

 

 

No regrets at all. Ah Chong is a great guy! very friendly and honest. Definitely wont be my last time going there. I'd rather travel all the way to Planet cos I know that when I get back home, I'll have a smile on my face.

 

Really two thumbs up for Ah Chong!

There was a guy riding a phantom with really cool custom headlights. He lives in the west too and came all the way down to Planet just to service his bike.

 

 

TBH, I've tried a shop in Bukit Batok (midview building) but that made me so frustrated despite being only 10 mins away from home. So yea, that's it.. I'm only going to Planet..

ytd, i was there before they even opened (i reached at abt 8.45am and they opened ard 9.15-ish). was the 3rd bike but I only waited abt 20 mins top before it was my turn.
