simply change lower sprocket ratio, drz design for dirt road.

if u want higher cruising speed change to a smaller rear sprocket,

eg. if rear sprocket on ur bike is 45 teeth than use 42 or 40 teeth rear sprocket.

the effect increase cruising speed, decrease in acceleration (pickup).

ps;

fc will increase due to heavier load.

Thanks for your suggestion. But to clarify my point.. Pound for pound, the drz is a much better bike at accelerating. No matter how much modification u do there's no way to modify a bike to have a character of another..

In simple terms, drz is good to point and squirt.. Versys is good for sitting back and cruising...

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

dun think u got my point also.......cant compare bike2bike coz their design specify their purposes.

many riders dun know how to make simple adjustments to their ride more enjoyable. :weep:

Yes thank you for your suggestion. Seems like you're very knowledgable. Shall not hog this thread for this small issue of mine.

Four years ago I was riding Goldwing. Two years later I was on the NC700 DCT model. Now I'm on a pcx150 - my last 150cc bike was more than 20 years ago(yamaha fly one). Basically it's to save some money. But surprisingly I'm loving every minute I spend on the pcx150. Perfect to me for SG roads. And good enough for me to ride to Cameron in May this year. Will go further next year to Thailand (it's manufactured there btw). I may take longer than by previous bike but I'll still get there.

To have a class 2 bike in Singapore means you need to have a 2a or 2b bike as well for everyday riding. A class 2 bike is not a need, any bike can go far and through all sorts of terrain, it's a Want. A luxury item to fulfil your itchy backside and childhood dreams!

My 2 bikes are so far apart from one another that you'd never suspect they belonged to the same rider. The 2b (Phantom) is used for everyday riding but went all the way up to Cherating and back without any major issues. Still my favourite bike! The class 2 (K13R) really doesn't belong on sg roads; especially with the traffic conditions in this city state. I only ride it like once or twice a week at best, sometimes less. It is immensely quick though, and it feels like an event every time you get on the bike and start the engine. In this way, my backside itch is scratched...haha!

well..been riding my z800 for 1 year plus now...sadly the shiok moment like the first time i ride had already gone..haha...the itchy moment when first time buying seem fading away..as now just been going down to my bike shop to downgrade back to class 2a or 2b..riding class 2 bike in spore really painfull in ass n overpowered on singapore road..but it true at least i feel how shiok the moment u riding a class 2 bike..but end of the day had to start savings for future..haha..in spore road..better to stick will class 2b or 2a..save more on everything.

Agree, the feel of riding a class 2 bike is totally different from class 2A and 2B. Safe or not is other story, it's rider habit.

I'm looking for a class 2 bike for daily commute. Low maintenance cost and low fuel consumption.

Was told NC750 is good for daily commute with low fuel consumption.

Any others bike to recommend?

I can tink of a few

1)Honda cb750

2)suzuki gsf650/gsf600 before 2006

3) yamaha xj600 /xjr900

4) suzuki sv650

5)Yamaha TDM 900

6) kawasaki ver sys 650

7) Honda Deauville NT 650 /700

All these above bikes I choose primarily because they are

1) tires sizes same as super 4 vtec or pb1 120/160 or 110/150 thus you can save money by riding a class 2 bike but using class 2a tires which are easily available with competitive price

2) The first three are air oil cooled bikes and the last three are water cooled bikes. Its like riding a rxz (air cooled) but class 2 power and lower maintenance for the first three.

3) The bhp for the above bikes are between 60 and 86bhp...which is more than enuff for singapore roads but not over kill yet economical.

4) The sv650 and honda deauville 650 and tdm900 and ver sys are v twin and parallel twin respectively so by their nature they are torquey bikes yet economical on fuel since using just two cylinders. You surf a bit which have enuff bhp for your needs....cheers....I wld go for the TDM900 if i have the CASH!

5) road tax is cheaper since less than 1000cc..road tax more than 1000cc got extra charges....not sure how much but I know I cant afford it. haha but I know road tax pretty near to a super 4.

6) insurance is suprisingly cheaper or around the same for honda super 4.

7) Some of these are used as despatch bikes in other countries such as UK and Europe so reliability is well known.

8) Surprisingly some of the above bikes are cheaper than super 4!

my two cents...cheers

I used my class 2 bike for everyday riding....I still feel shiok riding it knowing it cost almost as much as a s4 yet filled my need for safety.....cost wise not much difference from super 4 in terms of petrol yet maintenance is cheaper or the same.....hopefully can add a second economical class 2 bike in future....IF the price is right....

Middle class street bikes are actually the most versatile bike for Sg.

But due to its low resale value they are often not in bikers consideration.

Riding GSA1200 and cbr600rr now. Used to ride scooters like X9 and Vespa GT200, and bikes like TW200 and Super4.

Class 2 bikes are not an overkill for Singapore roads if you have good discipline. Always better to have more power and torque at your disposal.

If I can only have one bike it will be a class 2 adventure bike. Can put luggage, go touring comfortably, light off-roading. Just go up north to satisfy your need for speed!

Nothing beats the road holding of Class 2 bikes. There are perks such as braking stabilities, rd holding, speed, power to get out of hazard conditions, and comfort.

Wat kind of bikes wud u recommend for someone who loves riding but only have time to use it to/from work weekdays?

I'm in my mid 30s... working ofc hours. Thinking of getting a bike for daily commute. I have class 2 but have not ridden for quite a few years. Looks wise, I like the BMW R1200R. But don't think I'm willing to pay more than 20K for just a weekday commute bike. Maybe little more but definitely not pass 30K. Oh, n I'm only 1.6m

Same situation, now riding a GSXR600k7 as I liked sport bike. Cover less than 500km for the past 8 months.

I actually like cruisers... but for the same price, can get latest tech, more "features" in other kind of bikes.. that's y now looking more at naked bikes. but not sure if it will feel as relaxed as riding cruisers.

500km in 8 mths is more like hobby bike rather than a daily commute bike bro. not heart pain to see the bike gathering dust in carpark?

Look for middle class roadster, not too overkill for daily use and very practical in terms of usage.

Im riding a class 2 bike for the past 6 mths. There are no overkill for daily ride in Singapore just got to be patient as not easy for big bike to squeeze between cars waiting for traffic lights. I would say i have near danger situation and my bike handling saved me. So for me, i will go for big bike from safety aspect. Just my 2 cents.

Much of the influence and decision making will be the type of bike you buying.

Sportsbike is definitely a no-no unless you're really hardcore ...lol

So looking forward to getting my class 2 and hoot a big cruiser. I'm sure I'm going to complain when I'm stuck at the traffic light but hey, for me, the bike is not just for the purpose of commuting. Always love this quote " car moves the body but the bike moves the soul"
