Since there is a lack of threads dedicated to large MPVs, i'll start one!

Which of these MPVs would be a good people carrier (7 big fellas), gas consumption is also important. I do not really bother about the stying.

Toyota Picnic

Toyota Estima 2.4

Toyota Previa

Honda Oddyssey

Kia Carens

Hyundai Trajet

Mitsubishi Grandis 2.4

How about the Toyota Wish and Honda Stream? Consumption might be better but then can it comfortably accomodate 7 adults?

Thanks!

Ssyangyong not really fovoured by me la.. was at the Suntec motorshow last year, sat in the MPV.. the rear seat sliding mechanism spoilt.. stuck at a certain place. then the bugger told me, ayiah this on ppl move in move out thats why stuck actually it's a good car. He thinks when people buy they wont ever move the seats about ah?

So estima seems to be the best choice eh... hmm any info on the new Carens?

No need to check, just look at the 0-100 acceleration. With a full load, you can conservatively expect it to take another 8 secs. Having said that, do you really want to go like a bomb with 7 adults ? I would be more concern about it's cruising capability.

The good point is that the third row sits adults unlike, other MPVs where the third row is made to look like a joke.

The reality of life, performance and luxury is inversely proportionate to price.

read in a car mag it will be coming to SG.....

But read frm another mag tt...h3 is like not worth it to drive in SG and will consider doing a review whether sg needs this type of large vehicles...

curently driving picnic....so far good.....just tt coners and u turns need to go abit slower....but power and pickup is very gd.....7 adults can sit comfortably and the car still can go smooth....

seriously, I don't bother about the acceleration or how fast it can go. If the car makes a hell of a lot of noise when cruising, it's irritating + it burns more gas! after a while (i dunno about u) i get very tired driving it.

im not looking for a car that can go fast, carry 7 ppl and at the same time be fuel efficient.. im looking for a people carrier that can sit 7 big men that does not consume gas like a BMW. :cheeky:

Heh, how about Nissan Presage? The one with the full body kits or the Highway Star version looks very good! All the gizmos like automated sliding door, etc are in. Also, the front grille looks a bit like the Murano. Discovered only recently that I cannot afford to buy one due to the high insurance I have to pay for my 2nd car. =(

oh i heard the consumption of the presage is very bad.. not in my plans also! haha

eh off topic abit but then... barracudaman.. if i remembered, i saw your nick in singapore reef club forums before..

Is the FC so bad? Thank goodness I did not get one then.

Singapore Reef Club forums - Is it relating to scuba diving, etc? If so, then definitely I've never surf any of such forums cos I can barely paddle through to pass the swimming test during my army dayz. =)

From my knowledge, in terms of size (interior space)

FIRST- Largest would be stavic/chrysler voyager/toyota alphard/Honda Elysion/Renault Grand Espace (note that only alphard and elysion can seat 8, the rest 7, voyager length wise longest at >5m, alphard tallest at >1.9m)

SECOND - Estima/Previa 2nd largest (can choose 7-8 seater version)

THIRD - Picnic/honday Odyssey/hyundai trajet/volvo xc90/nissan presage smaller

FOURTH - Stream/Wish/Grand Scenic/mazda6/nissan prairie/apv - smallest

THIRD - Picnic/honday Odyssey/hyundai trajet/volvo xc90/nissan presage smaller

There are other SUVs with similar configuration such as the Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai SantaFe, and Subaru Tribeca.

FOURTH - Stream/Wish/Grand Scenic/mazda6/nissan prairie/apv - smallest

I think you meant Mazda 5.

Few other cars worth mentioning is Honda Airwave, VW Touran, and Peugeot 307SW.

There is also the Honda Stepwagon which is popular among HK artistes.

He cannot be wrong la :dot:

shiraz, depends if u always fetch so many ppl or not also.. Cos most ppl I know who drive a MPV usually 1 driver only.. Den weekend bring family go out.. If this case den buying something too big will not be too practical.. If like that smaller MPV like Stream or Wish would be more suitable.. if always full load den better get something bigger.. MHO
