I got a couple of questions here. Hope some kind souls can advise. :cheeky:

  1. Does the S4 vtec3's stock endcan has a built-in catalytic converter? I dun like catalytic converters coz it restrict lots of gas flow during high rpm.
  2. Which of the 3 brands of exhaust silencers are straight through type?
  3. Which of these brands can upgrade to full system without selling off the endcan & replacing it? Just need to buy the pipe headers to upgrade to full system?

Thanks in advance .

The choices are bias. You need to include other makes like Akrapovic & Two Brothers since they make em for our bikes.....

Id chose these two. The Yoshi is sounds too high pitch compared to the 2 Brothers & the power gains throughout the powerband is better in my opinion...

Hi there!

I'm planning to buy endcan for my CB400SF V3. Not sure which one to go for.. Some say micron is a good choice, more bass. what do u think, guys?

I believe the poll was created but not clearly explained that it was targeting at the street legal exhaust end can in Singapore.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Anyone dyno their street legal full system to see what's the difference or gain in hp or peak torque?

Am thinking of full system but I afraid the gain is negligible. Sometimes the louder sound can makes the person thinks its more powerful. Best is to dyno it & confirm.

I took great care to polish my end can everytime i wash my bike. Eveytime i pillion any passenger (especially ladies on high heal shoes :dozed: ) , i found out that they tend to scratch the end can . My end can is rather shiny so it is very obvious to spot fresh scratches under the sun . I really get upset over these scratches everytime i see my pipe . I was thinking of put some clear sticker at the near the foot rest area but then these sticker must be able to withstand high temperature otherwise the sticker will melt and will have a hard time trying to remove the sticker in the future .

does anyone have any solution to counter this problem .

there is this kind of sticker black in color 2 paste somewhere below e pillion footpeg, was trying 2 find tat thread but cant find it, mayb can wait til others who r free n who knows where 2 get it 2 help u. :D

scratches are not just under the pillion foot peg rest . It can be anywhere on the end can . I suspect these scratches are done by the pillion rider when they mount/unmount on the bike .

Ask any of the guys out here to help you to pillion the ladies lor...

Don't think they mind some scratches.... :cheeky:

I'm also one whom polishes my bike's end can...Just live with it lor.As long as it's not a dent, people should understand.

1) there's a series of twist, turns and bends for the gas to go thru your stock endcan, if you have open one before.. and yes, it does restricts the gas flow..

2) Micron: there's a buffler, must be on to pass inspection and TP.. by removing it, the sound will be louder of cuz, air flow will improve a bit more, i said a bit.. it can be fully dismantle as it's using screws to assemble.

LeoVinc: should be same as Micron..(never tried before)

Yoshi: straight thru, end can is riveted shut. but it's straight thru..

GPR: i dunno..

Morawaki: i dunno, but i think it only comes in full system

3) all after market end cans are bolt-on, the aftermarket header you can buy is Micron one.. goes with any of your after market endcan..

endcan, HP improve a bit, sound nicer a bit.. No offence to endcan only users..

best to change to full system, you can feel the diffence in sound and power when you are using endcan then add on header..

needless to say if you change straight away from OEM to full system..

Hope it helps.. my 2 cents..

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Yesterday, i went to Loois Motor and asked Meng Tong which brand of street legal exhaust full system gives the most increase in hp for S4 bikes. Bearing in mind that Loois motor has perform dyno test for decades for numerous bikes exhaust & they don't sell exhaust system - which means they're less likely to be biased towards one brand.

His reply was Yoshimura Cyclone street legal full system is the best. It gives between 8 to 12 hp increases & peak torque increase by about 8Nm. The maximum hp gain of 12hp is achievable when the carburettor jets are changed to jap brand ones.

Compared to the stock endcan, the manufacturer specs say the original hp is 53hp (39KW) at 11000rpm & 38Nm @9500rpm. My dyno test last year on my stock endcan bike confirms this. This would means the final hp after mods will be 65hp & peak torque is 46Nm.

In terms of % , there is about 20% gain in performance. I think this is pretty significant.

I also asked him the inspection certificates for street legal full system, does it includes both noise & CO emission test or just noise level? His answer was it covers both. Although the full system does not have catalytic converter to remove the CO, there is no emission problem during LTA inspections.

Can read about the Yoshimura Cyclone review here. The review also say the lack of catalytic converter in the street legal cyclone contribute greatly to greater gas flow & power delivery.

You didn't change the carburettor jets yet? Sorry there was another thread about exhaust. So I posted my interview with Loois Motor meng tong regarding exhaust full system here. He said the max hp after rejet is 65hp & peak torque is 46Nm. He also said amongst all the street legal brands, Yoshimura Cyclone is the best in performance.
