lets share something which i ever posted before...

for all Non VTEC and Hyper VTEC aka Spec 1 bikes, which are the FR platers and before, the whole bike is running on 12volts. but for Hyper VTEC, FS platers and newer models, the bike is running on 12 volts and 8 volts.

now talk about the alarm system... when u click on the remote start function on ur remote, the alarm unit will send out a signal (which is a 12 volts supply). this 12 volts supply is suppose to over ride the bike's ignition when connected to ur bike.

for all Non VTEC and Hyper VTEC FR platers, these bikes are running on fully 12 volts, and hence the remote function can be used on these bike without any problem. but for Hyper VTEC, FS platers and newer models, the meter assy of these bikes are running on only 8 volts which, the alarm unit does not supply. so, when u try to install the remote function on the bike, the signal (12 volts) might "burn" your bike's CDI.

its not tat the remote function is no good. its jus tat not all bikes can install the remote function due to the above stated. and also not forgetting that the newer bike with H.I.S.S. Technology will not allow your bike to crank start due to the memory chip of the OEM key is not at your ignition area.

remote start is good for morning cold start to warm up ur bike before any journey. and when you use remote start, the charging voltage will be lower as the charging voltage will go through the alarm unit before going to your battery. tats why everytime when i reach my bike after warming up, i'll kill the ignition with my remote and start my bike again normally with the key so the charging will be at its normal charging voltage.

the above are my 2 tiny, winy cents. if im wrong in anyway, feel free to comment.

last but not the least, i am riding a Honda CB400 Hyper VTEC, FR plate with remote ignition. the thread started should know about this...

safe riding to all!

S4 Bros,

I recently fixed a steel mate alarm but however, the auto start mode cant work. when using the alarm to start my bike, apparently there is raving of enginebut the bike dosent start. the bike shop tried to rectify the problem by using another cdi from another s4 spec 1(same version as mine). it works perfectly then. Anybody out there have a spare cdi to exchange?my cdi works perfectly except for this particular function. Pls help.

So for spec 2 and spec 3, there might be high possibility that the remote start function will not work right?
