what singaporeans lack on the road is courtesy...

From little actions and gesture like being patient to saying thank you..

Oh well... each to his own..

How to make others courteous on the road:

You gotta set a good example for others. Yes you will run into those nasty drivers/riders once in a while but why publicise them and give them more attention?

Reward/Practise the good and ignore the bad. Once other motorists acknowledge you are "riding/driving safely" unlike all the other common examples, they will give you some space.

I haven't lanesplitted in heavy traffic for a very long time. Until I forgot how to overtake at speeds below 50kph :p I'll just roll along in second or third gear keeping my fuel efficiency sky high...

Not sure i wrong anot...cross juntion,he turn left,i turn right. i turn to 1st lane while he turn to first lane too. so at the next stop light,he stop me and say something like * do you know you nearly bang me? it is your right of way? big bike wanna eat small bike huh, dont bullshit with me* something like that.light green so we both move off, he stop me by the roadside and start his *right of way* lesson to me. i reply *ya it not my right of way that why i turn to 1st lane which will give you 2 lane of space to turn.but still i got F by him, i take off helmet, park bike and ask * what do you want now?* then he see my number plate and move off. btw his a indian/singh with PPlate on a those stylo bling cub(spark if i not wrong).

what wrong with ppl nowaday? talking rules on the road?

just take it as i whining.but if *you* happen to see it and wanna talk about it,PM or call me.

he turn left, u turn right...

means u got right of way wat? or i too long never revise my theory ald?

im assuming u turn right (across the oncoming lanes), while he turned left from oncoming lanes (i.e. filter lane)?

just now while sending my gf home, met a "F1" driver in an fake WRX doing arcade daytona style driving along the CTE. cutting across lanes without due car, causing the vehicles behind to ebrake. from lane 5 -> 4 -> 3 -> 4 -> 2(2lanes) -> 1 -> 3(2lanes) -4. and the traffic condition is still quite heavy. potential causer of chain pile up or a tree hugger one day

this kind , better just be safe and open eyes BIG BIG while riding.. By not speeding = more time to react when a near miss accident..

in singapore, everyone kiasu, off work must get there fast, no time to spend on courtesy and manners.. so bo pian...

so wake up earlier and give yourself more time to slowly ride.. by rushing = die faster also.

i dont understand why those cub kias like to speed and squeeze so much. they think they are biggest on road so every1 must be more extra careful on them when they sneak in and sneak out? esp the uncles. think their exp many years = wont kanna bang?

saw that too.

Absolutely no idea why they speed like there's no tomorrow. Yes, most of them just finish work and probably cant wait to get out of SG. But, fast or slow, the who damn bridge at the woodlands checkpoint still full of bikes. Whats the point of speeding like a maniac, risking their OWN lives and OTHERs' lives??!!

After work went to LAB through heavy traffic from Balestier, and back north to home also in heavy traffic. No lanesplitting "zero" speed control all the way if I have to.

I wasn't in any sort of danger from drivers of cars, taxis, vans, lorries as I made sure they saw me (reflective vest) however motorcyclists were another story. There is one FU plate Runner that more or less entered the PIE from Adam Road by forcing me out of lane.

Contrast said Runner with the taxis in front of and behind me that wait for me to get into steady cruise speed, "ask" my permission with their signal lights before changing lanes. I'll gladly open a spot for the nice taxi uncles and help to signal anytime.

Still want to say taxi drivers are dangerous? We should look at our own riding habits first...

There was once upon a time, we all know, when CRDi Sonata taxis resembled more "GT Racing Car" than "taxicab". So at Kranji at a traffic light before an uphill stretch of road I looked at the Sonata beside me silently asking if he wants to go ahead and race up first.

Uncle didn't want to show off his car's power at all instead we launched side by side and let the passengers check out my bike's DIY tuned sound.

I know a lot of people hate taxis and their sometimes sudden maneuvers but hey, they are human beings like us making a living on the road. Just give them a bit of room and they'll return the favour most gladly. I've been a fan of taxis since 2003 :p

i seen more dangerous riders than taxis. i think see 10 dangerous rider is to 2dangerous taxis (Rato )

perhaps you weren't out during the peak hours. taxis are killers during peak hours when they do their "stunts" to catch passengers. :bouncefire:

i dunno whether the driving centres have been making passing easier, but many drivers nowadays really CMI. i m seeing lots more drivers failed to stick within the lane when moving along a bend. also, parking seems to be a very difficult task to most triangle plate. all badly slanted.

One more thing, to the Dawn Riders cyclists around CCK area:

if you cannot stick to traffic rules, ie CROSS THE JUNCTION ONLY WHEN LIGHT IS GREEN, please f**k off the road. I dun want to make you my road kill. blardy fools.

the conclusion is.... Singapore is are having more population and counting up.. therefore the increase in people = increase in vehicles and similarly to taxis on the road and dont forget.. traffic lights.. so the proportion is when the numbers are increasing so do road works.. and this cause the stress level to increase.. just look at our public transport.. how cramp during the peak hrs nowadays..

so if these figures increase.. what decrease..?? gracious, tolerance and patience..:sian:

anyway my comment is general, and apply to most..

On 27th September, about 2107hrs. Was riding from Bukit Batok Road towards Jurong Town Hall road, going straight, towards home when a car from the opposite lane right turn and hit me, right below the PIE flyover.

My injuries were quite bad that I can't even move my left side of the body but I spotted 5bikes and a van stopped to help me. I'm not sure if the riders and the van driver is from this forum but I really wanna thank them for stopping over to help me even though I'm a stranger, risking their own safety too (Coz it was still green light).

I've some fractures here and there but I'll recover (;

Last outing (saturday evening) we were confronted by a surprise ERP gantry that required an emergency pit stop before Nicoll Highway.

What I saw was a Comfort Taxi slowed down and formed up behind our convoy and shielded us from the traffic as we located a safe place to stop! The taxi's driving style looked strangely familiar (the way he waits for me to look at his car before overtaking me) even though I don't recognise the plate. Must be one of them who seen me before recently.

At Outram Road there was an emergency ambulance headed towards SGH and some cars had the intention to illegally change lane to let the ambulance have a head start.

When the ambulance came to a stop before the junction a lady driver in a custom Chevy Lacetti became the only car stuck in front of the ambulance and before a red light. Organising my little convoy a bit I waved for the lady to take the leading spot while we backed up our bikes a little. She managed to get her car a bit diagonally half over the white line but that was good enough! The lights were turning in our favour and I waved for the ambulance to go ahead and race forward, we'll pull to the left.

The ambulance driver surveyed the scene played out before him, thanked us before carefully overtaking us and zooming off into the hospital!

The lady driver was even better, actually forming up in front of my convoy to lead us in a wide turn that allowed the ambulance to take the inside line and save time.

Thusly I can say that for all my years on the road, Singaporean Drivers do have a heart - and it's a bit wiser to highlight the positive examples than to focus on the bad. That way you get positive reinforcement - good driving not only makes the road safer, but leads to others taking up the good skills themselves... because it's recognised.

As for the rush hour issue - well no big deal. You rush you expect me to give way, when I rush I too expect you to give way, so I give way lor! Funny but works quite well.
