Some weird guy took a photo of my bike while I was waiting for my Gf at the car park.

He was behaving suspiciously in front of my bike when I was standing beside it. Was annoyed by him so I moved to the front of my bike to block his attempt. He then move to the back of my bike and snapped a photo without offing the camera sound. Initially, he dropped someone off and was waiting for that person to be back.

Subsequently, he shifted his car and left after the woman came back.

He is a Malay in mid 30s. Driving a blue subaru. Starts with SJS.

Anyone has this kind of encounter?

Should have asked him why he was taking pictures. Now just keep a lookout at stomp or somewhere for the appearance of the pic.

Why we should slow down when approaching junctions. Seen countless accidents at this junction hence why I always slow down at this particular junction.

Why don't you ask him the purpose for taking photo? Maybe he admire your bike?

I suspect he may want to steal some nice part from your bike thats why take the number plate. I would park at a different carpark and cover the bike.

Should ride more at night. Really can see funny stuff. Last night got this FBE plated red gilera runner. Stopped beside him as the light is red. Before the light turned green the fellow moved off. Lucky no other vehicles from the other side chased after amber light or else accident already. Not sure if the rider was too impatient till cannot wait another 2 to 3 seconds more or maybe he was intimidated by me? But its not like I am riding some sportsbike or what. I ride small transport bike only so how could that be?

If the rider is here in this forum. Please do not worsen the reputation of riders. We are already seen as reckless and bad in the eyes of the public thanks to the social media. Please do not make it worst. :slapforehead:

Taxi driver decided to go another way and simply reversed to get out of the queue of vehicles waiting for the green light.

I kena before while queuing at woodlands checkpoint entering Singapore about a year back. Saw in my mirrors the rider and his pillion behind me were talking to each other. Then the pillion got off the bike and snapped a picture of my bike. Saw the flash from his iPhone. I returned the favor by taking a picture of the bike he was riding pillion.

The rider was annoyed when I took a picture of his bike. I spoke to him in malay tell that to your pillion at least ask permission first. Suddenly while we were bickering I saw the biometric lane on the right clear up. I proceeded into the lane, they followed me in.

Those checkpoint regulars will know into Singapore the biometric lane is rider only unless it's the left lanes. They got stuck there so I just left. Still have their picture with the annoyed riders face. Haha

I was just passing by there. I am staying in other parts of Singapore. :gun:

Anyway, my bike doesn't have anything fancy for him to steal. Mostly stock

If they wobble and the driver beside them is impatient it can be pretty scary so I guess thats why they do that. Especially on 125s where your pickup at full throttle can easily be beaten by more powerful cars using a tiny bit of throttle.

Yet but 2s before green is like the other side just turned red. So if kanna bad experience from moving off early then how? Lol

My suggestion is to place urself in front of the vehicle. This way the vehicle cannot move without hitting u. If u r at the side, accident may occur due to blind spot, impatient, etc.

Additionally u could do a hand wave to let the driver behind u noe u r there. My logic is that I try to make u feel slightly better by waving which in my opinion means "I'm blocking u but hope u can give chance".

Upset, aggressive riders hold ur keyboards please as i know the above can be useless or riders should have right of way, etc. But I have learnt to protect myself first before arguing about rights on the road.

Well said, it's all part of defensive riding..

Taking the lane doesn't only apply to traffic light junctions...from filter lanes/merging lanes/expressway exit ramps...if you keep left or right cars will see the space to squeeze in and they WILL squeeze in.. and that doesn't give the rider a lot of space to make evasive moves when there is branches/oil/gravel on the road.

There was once I was heading towards Simpang Bedok, heading from Bayshore. At the Bedok Food Center there some idiot Suzuki Swift over took me on my left just to squeeze into the single lane ahead when I was only 20-30m away from it. I literally felt the heat of his engine through my jeans (yes, he came that close)

Glad to say, I let him keep his side mirror that evening while I kept my life.

Better to take the lane, be a little slow but be safe than let cagers take their chances but with your life.

IMHO putting yourself smack in front of the car only makes it worse because the driver is gonna get angry if you delay while moving off. On top of that, if he's distracted like many drivers are, there's a good chance he's going to hit you straight up the backside. Whether its rolling forward, or seeing the green light but not you in front of him and moving off. If you want to chill, wait in line like everybody else. If you want to chiong, then go in between but make sure you move off fast once the light changes.

Lol, if he's gonna get angry, he shouldn't be driving, there's always someone ahead no matter how fast you are. Point is going in front once he's stopped. Waiting in line is stupid, someone might rear end you.

If the driver is distracted and hits me from behind, I'd rather be RIGHT at the front and have nothing ahead of me, instead of waiting in line SANDWICHED between 2 cars. And with your theory, cars right at the front of the junction MUST chiong off so as not to delay cars waiting behind him??

Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass if drivers get angry if I take my time to move off.

I'm in my lane, I'm entitled to ride/drive at a speed I deem safe for the conditions of the road at that time. I have every right to move off slowly and cautiously to make sure no red light jumpers take me out as I cross the junction. As long I don't crawl across purposely, I'm not doing anything wrong.

If a driver cannot be patient on the road because a vehicle in front is gonna delay his journey by literally 1.5 seconds, he shouldn't be driving coz he's only gonna get himself or others injured or killed with his impatience.

Your sense of entitlement is disgusting dear sir. Other cars don't cut in front of waiting cars, then take their sweet time to move off. As it is, lane splitting, while not illegal, is not polite if you make everyone wait for you by taking your time to move off. The fact is this, if you don't like waiting and want to lane split, don't make others wait for you too. Give and take. Speaking of impatience, why don't you look at yourself being impatient and lane splitting first before calling the kettle black eh?

The point is, you weren't there before he was so you're a guest. You can go in front, just don't block someone else from moving off because you want to move off slowly. Look, if its an old person in a Vios by all means go in front of him, if its a young woman in a hatchback staring at her phone and not paying attention, or a racer beng inching forward, would you really want to be in front of that car? Hes likely gonna be a **** if you don't move off fast and then both of y'all are gonna get angry and upset and start a brawl in the middle of the road. Self-preservation.

Wow. What a prick. You are those black sheep who brings bad name to riders. Smiliar to those who lane split on highway at 70-80kph. U squeeze all the way in front n then take your own sweet selfish time to move off. You delaying those cars who had waited patiently at all traffic light. You also delayed riders who are behind you. Ur action choked up the rest of the traffic behind you. u shouldnt be on the road.

You sound like someone against filtering because its cutting the queue. Try riding at peak hours, you racer, young woman or whatever, some bike will be in front of you and the chances are its a JB bike. They aren't gonna give a rats ass, at worst you go to jail for being a dumbass for running someone in front of you. If its a truck, what's you gonna do? Run him over too? Tough luck

There's always a vehicle in front, you're gonna get stuck irregardless the bike in front move off slowly or quickly and in heavy traffic, the bike will always be ahead even if you have so much more horsepower.

Look, I'm not against filtering at all. Its perfectly alright if done properly and safely in a way that doesn't antagonise other road users. Look at it this way, if you want to go around flipping everyone off who am I to stop you? In the end its you who lugi when a driver gets angry and sideswipes you while overtaking. Yup he will go to jail and you will go meet your maker. Sounds harsh but its the truth. Regarding the other point, since when do JB bikes dawdle when moving off at traffic lights? They have the sense to know that they should move off fast to avoid blocking everyone behind them, a concept which you seem to be having trouble grasping. Completely moot point.

Put yourself in front and dun delay in move off.

If you worry about the driver not noticing you then even if waiting in line will also happen. Worse still is you get pincer attacked.

My suggestion of waving to the driver is also in the hope that the driver will notice. Staying right in front of the car is also for the same purpose, making myself much more obvious.

But bottom line, position yourself where you think it is safe. In front, behind, between, doesn't matter. Just stay focus, alert and pay attention

You're talking about staying in front of a car and afraid that he/she might not notice or be irritated that you're ahead. The whole point is getting noticed whether he's irritated or not. If the driver intends to kill you, he'll kill you irregardless you're in front, behind or beside, if you're ahead, this is where a more powerful bike helps against your wannabe killer. The whole point of getting noticed is so they don't unintentionally kill you, that's why its called an accident. Whether you dawdle or not is a moot point. The chances of drivers dawdling is much higher than a rider, mofos have alot of things to distract themselves.

I doubt you even ride.
