For my front wheel, there's this "eee" sound at a certain point when the front wheel rotates.. I checked the brake pads, but it seems ok to me.. So wat maybe the reason for the sound.. I've had the bike checked by my mech and he says it's safe to ride.. But i would like to solve this problem coz sometimes I'm quite irritated by the sound..

According to Koon, it's caused by the imperfect alignment of the brakepads to the brake discs. Some minor adjustments (like kicking or hitting it to the side) may solve it but it may come back again. He also added its safe to be ridden though.

Had mine checked by him last 2 weeks.

I have the best signature.

i'm riding the new ta200.

here's my case, there may be some dirt/sand/rust in ur front suspension, since the suspension is covered by the upper part for the new model. my solutin is to use WD40 to spray into the gap to wash it.

hope tis can help u.

as for the front wheel sound, i do have similar prob after i changed my break pads, but it sounds like "sssssss". and i also not sure wat coz it. anyway, so far no problem, and it's not very obvious, so i just ignore it.

Maybe there is a snake stuck somewhere in your bike?

as i said, u try spray WD40 into the gap between upper cover and lower suspension, and push handle bar (apply front break!) up & down, can see some dirty thing come out, wipe it, and spray again & up/down again & wipe again till it's clean.

tis help me to solve the problem, hope it does on urs.

cheers!

Hmm.. do u know is it possible to remove the suspension cover? I would like to take it out to c if the problem lies with the cover or my front suspension..

Techinician.. i did have similar probs b4. I solved it when I sprayed a lubricant on the fork and let it slide into the rubber pads of the fork itself.

found this from Storm Riders

really impressive... any defensive tips for amateur on phantoms ??

SMC AMATEUR STREET RIDING DEFENSIVE SESSION

Questions that you may want to ask yourself;

1. Can you pick up your dropped motorbike without injuring yourselves?

2. Can I do a U-turn in a tight space?

3. Can I squeeze through the tight space between 2 cars?

4. Can I brake on time when the road is wet?

5. How can you avoid a direct collision in an accident?

The Amateur Street Defensive Riding Session consists of 5 areas:

1. Proper way of picking up your fallen motorbike.

2. Familiarization of riding your motorbike through a tight space.

3. Familiarization of knowing the width of your motorbike to ride in between vehicles.

4. Familiarization of the amount of braking needed to stop on time.

5. Understanding of how to use gyro force works to avoid a collision.

you can also pay about $50 and sign up for school defensive riding..

very good...

you can "race" in the circuit also.. :cheeky: went once and is great.. teaches you all sort of technique..

if you use NSF, there is a half price paid by MINDEF. but you need to pay the full sum first and then claim thru your S1 dept or the intranet.

if nsf wants to ride bike, must attend defensive riding course?

cannot ride just like that with our license and insurance?

most prob is the bulb blown as headlight there are 2 filaments 1 for high beam the other for low. in any case either buy a bulb to change yourself or if not sure got down to a mechanic and they will charge you $2 (i think) including labour charges. :thumb:

Hi , thanks 4 ur advice, had the bulb changed 4 $6.

Another question, being using semi-syn oil for 1 year plus, thought of switching to fully-syn, will it cause any side effects to the engine?

pls advise

phantom 200, just did servicing after 2.5k of mileage. changed engine oil as well

somehow, when riding back home, different feelings compare to before.

vibrate stonger than before and speed at each gear level drop a bit.. meaning previously i drag up to 80km at gear 5 before changing to 6. from then i throttle till 110kmm at times. however the speed drop like 10-20km/h

i suppose no need to run-in the engine oil right? any solutions?

May be because the viscosity is different. Thinner? Maybe you're just not used to it. Any reason in particular why you need to change? Semi Syn is enough for old phantoms

Hi. My 200 can't start. There is light. There is cranking sound when I pressed the starter switch. Spark plug was changed recently. Anyone can recommend a reliable mobile repair service. Cheers.

Obvious questions, but check these first:

Do you have petrol? Is the engine kill switch set to ON?

maybe your battery is weak. time to change.

similar experience before, lighting + fuel available, but poor cranking.

if you hear a 'pak pak pak' sound its your battery. Try running start. also, try to disconnect and then connect back your spark plug, or buy a new one to try before you tow it to mechanic.
