The 2 stroke engine also has piston rings. In what way is it inferior to 4 strokers in terms of 'air tight'-ness?

The appropriate response to your queiry on the diff between gear oil and 4T is rather technical n lengthy...i now a bit lazy to type all out as im in the middle of mugging. If there's a chance, we can meet up and exchange our points. In the meantime, you try for one oil cycle, instead of 4T change to gear oil and see how it goes. Simply put, if there wasn't a difference, or if it were inferior to 4T, it wouldnt be in production.

gear oil and atf ...same functions.

but bike and car requirements different...

bike ..wet clutch..and

inclusion of combustion products into the crank case..this is a result of the overlapping of the intake/exhaust port for 2 stroke bikes..

so wet clutch need diff oil..

inclusion of exhaust gas...gear oil additives must take care of this..

car atf dont have to worry about the above 2 problems..so different mah..

gaer oil sae something like 70w90...dont understand this...

using 4T..will take care of most problems...but maybe i think the effect of inclusion of exhaust gases is not so serious on normal use..at higher rpm i suppose this inclusion may be a problem..

so our dear a chong gives us 4t for 2 or 4 stroke bikes EO servising.....

Bro, i think you better used market language. So that other ppl will have better understanding. especially on the 'inclusion' part. Its a bit chim to undestand :)

Btw 70/90 not good for bikes. Might get clutch slip.

noticed that there have been quite a number of repeated questions asked by opening a new thread and its not encouraged if its already been answered before.. we will always say use the "search" function in the forum.. but let's say some1 is looking for ah wan's service, try typing the search in sbf. it wont work. google is still every1's best friend.. can try to use google search instead of sbf search. you are more likely to get your answers..

that's how i do it.. simple tip for all.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

hi,

my problem start after change EO and spark plug. When my bike coming to a stop. there is a weird sound, as if there is metal knocking each other...(felt like my EO area there)

i let it free run. never clutch in or throttle.

does any one know the reason?

it could be due to the timing chain tensioner, it cost $55-$60 to get it replaced. but best is to check with your fav bike shop first. :)

due to the viscosity of your EO perhaps? whats the diff between the previous one then and now?maybe.. who knows

for the benefit of all. i have solve the problem.

werid metal knocking was due to my chian was loose, thus when free run it "knock" onto other part of the bike body.

next time if u hear a bit like : "sa....." sand paper rub sound

it was due to the chain was too tight.

thanks.

hallo to all.

Had a problem with my bike. Hope you all can give me some advise.:cheeky:

Just changed my bike engine oil and spark plug.

After changing, my bike become "harder" to start. On the electric starter, after 1-2 seconds, it die off. No matter how i try also the same result. Its only when i put it to a very high idle (the knot on right side) or keep on throttle then can start bike.

This only occur when the bike is left alone for a few hours. Other then that, ride for a while then off the engine. after a few mins still can start.

Went back to the bike shop. The boss can`t see the problem as the bike is still warm. He fine tune it a bit only. But the problem still remains.

Does anyone know?:giddy:

for the benefit of all: this problem was also solve!

reason as due to the new spark plug i change was of lousy type (band: BOSCH SUPER , a bit of green colour)

the model does not really suit our phantom, thus giving problem when trying to start the bike.

the spark plug i change from was a shop in bukit batok (very famous shop, all should know that)

I still ask what type of spark plug they change for me, and they reply confirm good one. (charge me $5! when it only cost about $2)

last week my signal lights switch failed to trigger the lights. I went to sp**dw*y motortiam at bukit batok and the mech open up the front right cover (oval shape 1) and change something which he call it the Fazer unit.

Solved the problem. Charged me $12 for that. Did i get chopped?
