If my frnd's mechanic were to let me wait for that long, I'll not patronise him anymore! :D

Hi KaiKai83

I agree with you their workmanship is really good , Earlier my horn is too soft , I plan to change my horn , the guy who repaired my bike he tune my horn , now the sound is better and strong ..

Posted

If you go planet...prepare to wait....Yes they do good stuff there.....but the waiting time is too long.

I only visit them if there is Engine job, otherwise, either I do it on my own like chaning Spark Plug or EO, or paid a little to up-keep by Ah Koon.

I usually tap on Ah Koon expertise to fine tune the machine......So ask alot of funny question.....The best part is, he is willing to tell me, but not so willing to show. So have to pretend pretend and steal tips and tricks from him laio.....

Assuming that u are using the stock DID O-ring chain, you will need to use chain lube or chain wax that is O-Ring chain compatible (it will be stated on the bottle)

Try MAXIMA Chain wax, pretty good & it does not fling (about $10 only i think - Koon got sell)

:btw: Generally, grease will be more water resistant, but it WILL trap sand and dirt on your chain, resulting in faster wear, so I think using machine grease on your chain is definitely a no-no...

In fact, as a rule of thumb, grease should only be used in enclosed places (bearings etc), NOT on chains that are exposed to the environment.

One last point, try to lube bi-monthly. Once a month sounds a bit too long for me...

Hmm.. I've finally bought my 1st can of chainlube spray.. Tried finding the Maxima brand but can't find it.. Finally settled for a motorex chainlube..

It's a spray, but how to spray huh? Spray in the inner or outer layer of the chain? or just spray the whole chain.. This is my 1st time spraying chain, so nd to ask for instructions.. Search for it but in the end came out alot of topics.. I oso dunno which 1 is correct.. If there's info about this question and anyone would like to stop me from posting unnecessary threads, pls give me the info..

My engine quite dirty.. Can i use a brush and water to scrub the engine to make it clean.. Water should not come in contact with the spark plug cuz later the bike will be difficult to start.. Izzit true?

BTW, other than lubricating my chain, pumping my tires & washing my bike, any other simple maintenance I can do? Thank you for the advice..

hey guys, i think some problem, everytime i change my gear and open up my throttle to speed up, i encounter 1-2 seconds of lag, felt something like when the bike is out of fuel. Then only after that the power comes in. Is this some problem with my clutch?

How much is a clutch plate ah?

I'm riding a TA150.

Thanks  :sian:

Check your chain 1st, if its losse tighten it 1st & see how, if not it will be your clutch cable or clutch plate

Motorex is good as well.

You can either seat on your bike or stand at the side to spray. I usually spray the chain at the area just under my seat. As such, the spray will not dirty my wheel at the back. If I am seating, I will spray once, then move the bike about 30cm and spray again. This will repeat for 3 times.

You can clean the engin with brush and water. Like what you said, should keep water about from Spark Plug. As for me, I usually will just wash the bike as usual but just ensure that the water don't sip in from the right hand side where the spark plug is.

- Check your tyre groove

- Check Chain tension (not too loose and not too tight)

- Polish your bike

- Use autosol to polish area such as exhaust to maintain the shine.

I believe that's all....that will be at least 2 hours.....:thumb:

Hi guys.

This question's as noob as it gets.

1. How do we find out if we are on reserve tank?

Okay. Another thing.

2. My front fender's somewhat broken at the front. Not that there are any loose peices, just a crack that enables the fender to 'scissor' open. It's obvious and i want to get it fixed.

Any idea where, and around how much should it cost?

3. May i know where i can get my bike for a professional cleaning session? I think a lot of work has to be done. I only know these things can go up to $70.

4. May i know roughly how much Planet charges for little paint touch-ups?

Will really appreciate the help...

I have the best signature.

hi.. i juz got a license and is looking for a bike lyk phantom.. i want to kaki bukit today and saw a daelim motor which look quite lyk phantom.. is daelim motor a reliable motor to purchase for new rider?? thx 4 ur advice..

Posted

oOxUeOo: Guess e model u saw was Daelim Daystar125. If I'm not wrong, it's a Korean brand. U might wan to check up more on bikes from Korea. As for Honda Phantom TA200 4-stroke from Thailand, I personally feel it's a great 2B bike. Stability, acceptable power, acceptable expense on maintenance, not forgetting low fuel consumption varying from 30km/l to 40km/l. U may also wan to consider Honda Phantom TA150 2-stroke from Thailand, which has a greater power at e expense of lower fuel consumption from 19km/l to 25km/l. =) Cheers!

Note: All figured stated above are of estimated. Actual figure varies wif diff bikes n bikers.

I used to have this 'tonk tonk' sound coming from the rear of my bike. Sounds like hitting a hollow metal rod. Sometimes occur when moving off and most of the time when after going over a hump and the bike bounces up and down.

Went for my first free servicing at Boon Siew and they tightened my chain for me and the sound disappeared!

But now after a week the sound seems to be coming back though softer than before... :giddy:

Maybe can check if your chain is too lose?
