Republic of Steak? Next to Allson Hotel.

 

When can we go? I am always in the vicinity nowadays. The free parking I can think of, is a far walking distance nearer to the Goddess of Mercy Temple.

I like mine medium well, Deus. Not too bloody. Anyways, my current favourite place for steak is Botak's Favourites located at Tang Tea House, Simpang Bedok. Always order the ribeye steak with two sides of double baked cheese potatoes... :slurp:

Yup. Ribeye is the best cut. Tenderloin is just... meh.... boring.

 

Botak's a bit too saucy for me. Prefer it just steak without anything on it.

Aston's is the value option for me.

 

If I want it good, then it'll be Black Angus, Morton's or Outback.

If I want it good, then it'll be Black Angus, Morton's or Outback.

 

I have almost given up on eating out as it is just too expensive.

 

Now i will go Swiss Butchery to grab some filet mignon (that's the best cut), or ribeye and lamb rack, to cook at home. All the meats are seasoned, so you simply put in or a grill pan for a few minutes (depending on how you like it to be done) on each side, and let it sit for another few minutes before serving. The staff there are knowledgeable enough to advise you.

 

Feed 4 for less than $60 (beers included) :p.

 

Occasionally, I will still steak out but no more at those ripoff places like Lawry's or Morton but at more affordable places like Ministry Of Steak at Serangoon Gardens or Prime Cut at Simon Road.

Haven't tried Ministry of Steak yet. The usual budget steak to me is Aston's . :D

That's at Spurs, a popular local steak joint in Cape Town.

 

Did u grill it on one side till the top sizzled then flip it over?

 

After pre-heating the pan, for medium well, it's about 5 mins (depending on the thickness) on each side. Remember, must let the steak rest for another 5-10 mins before serving.

no GST & service charge, reasonable pricing.

This is what I had in Brisbane. It's so good, I had to get a 2nd one. They call it the Master Kobe Beef. It's 300g and very tender. So tender and yummy, I had to get the 2nd one. By the time I came to the last 4 bites, I was very full.

Good question. AUD55 for the steak. So that's AUD110 for 2 steaks. Plus fries, veggies and sauce, additional AUD10. Total is AUD120 for about 600g of that steak.

But, there's more. This was a few weeks ago. I ate alone because I had an argument with my family and needed a good 1kg steak, especially when I didn't have lunch

This is another wangyu steak but it's not Kobe-like grade, so not as marbled but still delicious and tender. This one is AUD87, because it's made for 2 people. I ate more than 3/4 of it and took the remaining steak home. Salad and fries, I finished on the spot :sweat: :hungry:
