oh.. he quoted me S$18000 for a parallel import bike and S$18500 for a boon siew bike... i took the boon siew one. i downed 3k.

 

hmmm.. u guys tink tat its a easy bike to get used to? m tinking if i m able to control tat bike since i m riding a 2b bike all the while. i dun wanna buang it on the first day i ride out lol

anyway jus heard dat 18K otr dat is offered by BP is parrallel import which is so called claimed to hav powercut. Add in another 700, u'll get a boonsiew one which does not hav powercuts. haha....can anyone here explain what the diff btw powercut n non-powercut bikes?? Issit affecting the top end power?? Means powercut top only maybe 200km/hr, whereelse no powercut can go beyond 250km/hr. Or, issit a powercut can still hav the same top speed, but respond is much slower??? Which is it?? hmmmmm.......

 

Anyway, i jus read from the honda website...there is a slight difference in specs between 07 n 08 models. 07 only states the injection or carburetion as DSFI..where else 08 stated DSFI plus 40mm throttle bodies and denso 12 holes injector. Hmmm....issit the 08 has larger throttle bodies? whch i believe will make the bike stronger. but i not sure what denso 12 holes injector is.

The only difference i know between the 07 and 08 in terms of spec is the change in rake angle. I've seen the "DSFI plus 40mm throttle bodies and denso 12 holes injector" part but was not aware it wasn't on the 07.

 

Parrallel import bikes are JDM (Japan Domestic Model).

Japan restricts power of their bikes that are sold in japan. Actually the PI bikes are exactly the same as the Konica Minolta cbr600. You turn a few pages back Enfant got mention bout the konica.

69 horsepower and top speed of 180km/hr.

actually i personally think that the Konica Minolta edition is damn nice.. too bad it's restricted and i think derestricting it MAY cost quite abit..

i don't think they will sell the restricted model in singapore..

 

i still say that all bikes sold in sg are actually the same which is made FOR Europe. no restriction whatsoever, all are equipped with HISS, with lambda sensor, no restriction blah blah. boon siew is the main importer/ distributor, there are other lesser known importers too so i guess it's all the same la. besides, the paintwork is all the same as the europe selection, correct?

boon siew bikes are more expensive because they cover certain mechanical manufacturing defects under a warranty period, that's all, there's nothing else to it. the extra money you pay is like insurance for the warranty, not because it's derestricted

 

personally, i got myself a boon siew bike because my previous NEW bike had some 'problems' within the 1st month of purchase, luckily it was covered under warranty and i paid a small sum for labour charge only. why take any chances? does anyone dare vouch for the so-called bikeshop warranty offered by parallel importers?

 

if you can't afford the extra $700 then you should save up for it, this is a 600cc supersports bike, you need to prepare to spend on it, it's no honda cub, things like warranty against defects, safety and maintenance cannot save one la

 

the best way to clarify things would be to ask bp what is their meaning of 'powercut' lor. the salesman might not even know it but just came up with some excuse to justify lower cost of parallel imports. if he can tell you got this baffle pipe at the endcan la, the opening size of the intake manifolds are halved by steel plates la, the ecu is detuned la, then he knows what he is talking about. otherwise, i also don't know what he means.

Hoi.. The stock CBR600RR suspension setting is good lah.. Can do 1:42 with the stock setting lah.. Onli thing is u r too big n heavy.. hahaha.. BARNEY on a CBR600RR?? Of coz must make changes to the suspension lah.. U just need a heavier spring for your BARNEY weight.. Check with Joe Sporting Motor if he got from Ohlins.. For now u can adjust the preload to maximum hard.. Remember to adjust both the front and rear preload to maximum hard.. U can also increase(plus) the compression n rebound by 3 clicks each for both front n rear rebound n copmpression.. I think this might help to offset ur BARNEY weight..
