You missed my point entirely, Neo.

The point here is not how good safety boots are, but that safety boots cut off toes. We are talking different purposes here. How well or badly safety boots do against riding boots IS NOT THE ISSUE. I could easily compare safety boots over slippers or SAF Goretex boots too, but again, That's not the point. It does not matter how many braces the riding boots have, or how many ankle supports it has.

THE ISSUE IS SAFETY BOOTS CUTTING OFF TOES AND POSE A DANGER TO RIDERS.

Honestly, I have never, ever seen on case of a rider having his toes sliced off in a bike accident. I have seen many in construction accidents, but never in a riding accident. I've searched the web, and never seen it. If you can provide me with evidence I am most grateful. . I am convinced its an urban myth, created because toes do get sliced off in construction sitautions, which, I have said is a safety feature.

Some issues:

1) To use the cap to cut off the toes, a tremendous amount of force has to be applied; I'm not sure if such a degree of force can be applied in an accident without destroying the toes and the surrounding foot in the first place.

2) yes, bad accidents happen to people in safety boots, but is there evidence that the boots made the injuries worse than what they would be if there was no steel protection at all? I doubt that there is any evidence of that at all.

2) Some people have argued that the toe of the safety boot can be rotated around to cut off toes. For that to happen, all your toes have to be pulled out of their socket through the 180 degree rotational movement, the toes would all have been broken by then, before any cutting occured. If that's the case, well first of all it would be a super rare occurance, and second of all, if there were severed first then at least some of the ligaments might be saved.

But to answer your query above: A pair of riding boots costs over $150. A pair of safety boots costs $50. Even SAF boots cost over $100. Should we be scaring away people who cannot afford $150 boots if wearing $50 boots could save their feet?

I wait eagerly to see what evidence you provide for the slicing off of toes on motor cycle bikers who wear safety shoes.

If you counted carefully, I only made one mention of it,whereas you made a big hooha and wrote furiously to defend your stand...

I may not be able to proove it, but it seems like a logical warning, and may happen.

this topic is abt Harley Davidson being THE Ultimate Riding Machine ever built by man-kind! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

NOT

safety boots! o_O

ok anyway.. regarding safety boots for riding, the tall, high toe part would make it extremely difficult to shift gears unless you're on a cruiser..

and regarding HD, yea it's the best.. :thumb: why? where else can u find this kinda sound? where else do u find this kinda history? how else can u experience "The American Dream"? what else can u customise till this extent and not be finished with customising and... THE HERITAGE of the brand! :thumb:

It's your damn bike, wash it yourself! You rinse your own mouth after you eat, don't you?

I love Ducatis too. Where else can you find this kinda sound? What other bikes sound like they are self destructing when they are running perfectly fine? :D

I guess we all love our underpowered V-twins. :thumb:

Like Ducatis and Porsches, watercooling their engines gave them better performance and reliability, but takes away some of the charms only a raw air-cooled engine can give.

Go motorcycle shows also got RUB wear racing leathers walking around mah...

Cannot generalise. Only socialise. :thumb:

Hhhmmm.. would presume that any fairly experienced rider knows the difference between racing leathers and a standard leather riding jacket doubling up as a normal jacket during cool weather.

well, maybe most experienced riders 'cept one...

so guess I shouldnt generalise too...

In my opinion, HD like many top brand names out there dont built custom cruisers. What they do like all the rest is to bulit a standard package and then it is you the owner that dress up your machine to make it "ultimate" so to speak.

Of course the true customizers like Jesse James and such are an exception because they built a motorcycle from ground up and I think it's a one of a kind motorcycle whose design is not to be repeated.

So yeah...HD, it's just another bike, you are the one that customizes it to look "ultimate". So there's no hard and fast rule to link HD with "ultimate crusier" Althought with all the "bad boy", "american heritage", blah blah blah, image of HDs, it's understandable that the layman considers them "ultimate"

The Ultimate Cruiser in my opinion, is not any particular brand but an individual or a group of bikes whether man/woman who travelled practically (body and soul) around the world, breaking the barriers and closing the cultural division among the various cultures and people... that to me is the ultimate cruiser because at the end of the day... its not the bike that makes the man, its the man that makes the bike....

Just my honest opinion.......

Hmm, i think you shld rephrase your question to, "Which is your ultimate cruiser? Which satisfy you the most?" Or do a poll, then you collate data yourself to decide which is Singapore's favourite cruiser, you just pop up one manufacturer, there rest will surely put self opinionated remarks not really answering your original question rite? Reading the threads, end up i am confuse HD is ultimate cruiser meh? Ultimate does not apply to the label, but to the personal opinion then. BTW there's lots of other cruisers on sale elsewhere in the world, Sg nvr import, like Indian, Boss V8, Ural etc. What about those cruisers with side cars, trailers behind? To some, these are ultimate too! Everybody have their own criteria, HD may not have those criteria they want, so no ultimate for them there. When u buy bikes, base on your wants, not what other wants, like somebody mention, most beautiful women concept. Your bike may not be most expensive, but u like what, who cares what others think, unless you are status conscious lah, then any expensive bike will be ultimate loh.

Any Valkyrie rider can tell you the ultimate cruiser does NOT have a V twin motor!

Any HD rider can tell you the ultimate cruiser does NOT have a Flat or a in-line4 motor!

All as well, ends well.

Well, you are absolutely correct on that one. And really, I must say that an HD has the advantage of being a multi purpose machine. When not cruising, the HD motor makes an excellent paint shaker/mixer! :cheer:

All in good fun, I hope you know. Motorcycles are a personal affair... and each man's (or woman's love) IS the right bike for them. I ride with anybody and respect everybody's ride.
