yamaha days are gone, long gone, since the days of 500cc motor race. wat crap the yamaha team is doing, changing and experiment things during championship race. He did change enging half way thru championship race. I think he will try Ducati (Italian bike) for Italian rider or he would try SUZUKI b4 he change to 4wheels.

Few years back, Rossi had the chance to join Ducati Team but he reject them and chose Yammies coz of bigger pay cheque. I dont think so Ducati will need him now as they have riders much younger and mayb cheaper

Think Rossi choose Yammie because of the more people approach and mentioned that Ducati was like a mini HRC, and too small a company to win the championship. Well, he was definately right for the 990 era. It's mentioned in Rossi's book "What if I did not try", something like that.

Well said bro, you're not being disrespectful to anyone. GP class is way above our reach. Don't know if we can even reach WSBK standards. Well for Singaporeans at least... our neighbours Malaysia and Thai, who have their own tracks, have nurtured GP riders. If only we have our own track, our own race programe.....

And as for MotoGP racers, I don't know how many have seen them ride from the pits. At ground level, they are like a circus; their skills are unforeseen. I've seen Hayden coming into Sepang turn 1 sideways after the braking marker and I really thought he was going to bin it, but on tv replay it looks so 'normal'.

Also saw Rossi wheelie while cornering towards turn 3 exit in practice in a show of skill. And he has so much variation in his riding style, he doesnt attack the same line everytime.

It is true that it's easy to get carried away watching the "norms". A ride around the tracks oneself, the "norms" are way too scary for most of us

Bigger pay cheque? I'm not sure how true this is. But according to his biography, it was the challenge that was proposed to him.

Everyone said he couldn't win in Yamaha, he just wanted to prove that he was the best. Nothing to do with pay cheque, what makes you think Ducati is offering lesser anyway?

as someone else mentioned earlier, david brivio approached rossi, to help produce a winning machine. clearly shown by talent in 2004, winning machine in 2005, abits of both in 2006(he nearly won the championship with 4 or 5 DNF).

2007, is a battle of tyre manufacturers. stoner is clearly the best bridgestone aided rider, but its coming at the down of michelin(pedrosa, rossi and hayden). yamaha clearly is struggling in performance, unlike the honda upgrades.

both pedrosa and rossi fighting for bridgestone for 2008.

Im not too sure if anyone will agree with me..

My idea of the failure of rossi in 07 is due to 2 major factors of which

1) Tyre war...every1 shld hav understand dat michelin is not able to carry on wif their tradition of making special tyres deliver over the race weekends which caught them by surprise whereby bridgestone all along nv had this way of doing things.

2) Yamaha...yes rossi is a good development rider but when he cross over to Yamaha on the 990 m1, dat bike had been like "half developed" n as everyone also know dat during the switch from the 500cc strokers to the 990cc initially Yamaha also cannot really make it till Rossi came along...this is the 1st year of the 800s so can we take it as if dat it is also a brand new bike dat Yamaha had built for a start which is not so gd as the others whereby rossi did speed up the development by still not going to be as other bike during the initial stages???

Point 1) Michelin was caught short. Many things happened within Michelin. The CEO of the company, and grandson of the founder, Edouard Michelin was killed in a boating accident, long time Director Of Competition Pierre Dupasquier and Head Boss Nicolas Goubert have also moved on from the motorcycle division to retirement and other jobs inside the company. This change at the top of the leadership along with the withdrawal from Formula 1 and having to redeploy thousands of people who worked in that area. Too many distractions in Michelin.

Point 2) 3 Major changes in this year's premiere class: Fuel cut short of 1L, engine cap limited to 800cc, and the tyre rules. There's too many new changes and it affects R&D directions. Rossi wanted the M1 to be the fastest turning bike on the grid, with good stability under hard braking over direct top speed. He got it, but he and Yammie never expected the Desmo to set the new standards for the 800s in term of speed and power. Also, it is known that Desmo has very tiptop electronics. And, you noticed Rossi got more bad starts this yr?

i just now read the the bike magazine, saw stoner and rossi knocking knuckles.. after finishing.. i think it's early season..

i roughly remember rossi critise the tyre rules thingy to the press and somehow the press media go to stoner opinion, and stoner not agreed with rossi blah blah.... and voice his own opinions..

hmm.. dunno if that's the start of the whole no talking between stoner and rossi?

If you watch most of the races, you can see Rossi's frustration.. The critics have also been very harsh on him, especially the Italian press. And imagine trying your best to prove to everyone that you can still beat Stoner, but your bike and/or tyres keep failing...

Even from my comfortable seat in front of the tv i get frustrated! You watch Rossi take corner after corner, beating the other racers, and then? Tyre problem. Bike fail. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

There was one race, i can't remember which, if i'm not wrong it was Motegi? Rossi had already beaten everyone, and only a few laps from the end, everyone else had changed to rain tyres except him. And the moment he did, it screwed up his ride.

Wow, frustration. Can kill. I think i'd have just slowed down and thrown that expensive AGV helmet at Stoner as he went past. While may be unable to blame Yamaha or Michelin, it can't be Rossi's fault... He's under too much pressure...

So i agree, that if Yamaha can't provide, he should make a move. :thumb:
