KOSMIK - hi there bro. well i wouldn't say we sell all kinds of watches. ours is just a small shop. i'm working on our website now. if you are interested, you can check it out here: http://preview.watcharena.com.sg/ . if you have a particular watch in mind which you think we might stock, do feel free to PM me. will definately give you a good price if we have it in store.

pricessfiz - hey there gal. you ride a vespa?

any way to tell that my scoot has been ported?

kos when i asked my brother, he said that it's already been done..

so my scoot is now 225cc

Cephelix...

You don't have a 225cc unless you have a 60mm crank. So, unless your brother imported one from overseas, you've still got the stock 57mm crank which means 215cc...

The only porting that needs to be done on the engine is as follows... (doing it is not vital, but will maximise the ower potential of the pinasco cylinder

1) Cleaning up of the inlet area under the carb (engine fuel intake)... making it a nice shape without widening or lenthening it.

2) Matching the port on the cylinder to the port on your engine case (pinasco is slightly larger than stock....) There is only 1 port for Pinasco, unlike 3 for Malossi.

http://www.sip-scootershop.com/upload/images/abbildungen/00000355_003.jpg

The port in qestion is visible at the near end (part that slots into engine casings) of the cylinder pictured.

Neither of these two things can be done withou splitting your engine cases (back part of the engine... i.e. the bit under the cylinder.... splits in half) This is costly and should only be done if you're considering an engine rebuild... something I don't think you really really need right now (get to know the engine and memorise the haynes manual first).

Some time in the future we can check your cylinder head (chances are it isn't setup properly...) But, wait until you find someone who has a pinasco setup properly... there won't be many in Singapore. Yes the pinasco works fine if you just bolt on and go... it just doesn't work nearly half as good as it should...

Leyland...

Yes you can change to a B8HS... don't please use a B8ES though... the ES has a long thread and will hit your piston... The HS is desinged for PX150's....

Ok, the B8 is quite a cold plug (search for a comparison between heat ranges of champion versus NGK plugs) Cold plugs are good for long periods of high speed (when your engine gets hot for a long time), but can run like poo around town if your carb isn't jetted right... There'll be plenty of threads on scooterbbs.com on this... have a search around there..

oh mine uses Champion L86C.... but think that's because my ride is on alloy block bah. The previous owner quite a techie guy so he 'zhng' bits n pieces of the scoot alot... LOL

Maybe i should spend more time reading up the manual n get some hands on experience...

Yesterday was crappy.... caught in the drizzle n literally froze iwhile watching the movie :sian:

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to death, your right to say it.

yah kinda.. after seeing the work done on planescape's and your px. =P i know in the long run it's better to get the original but i'm thinking like if i do get the real thing i'm probably gonna spend quite a bomb fixing the internals of it. plus perhaps changing it to a 12V cdi.

i don't really care what it says on the log card or my FB plate cause i'll be the one riding it. =P so besides the low re-sale value, what other cons should i consider first?

change 12v cdi 400... but if u mod outlook, it will cost more than that.. and after all that you've spent, vespa enthusiasts still regard it as px... though 99% of singaporeans have no idea what that is, except that it's a vespa and it's classic looking.

some will say that with the amount you spend, you might as well get the real deal...

and of cos it will take quite some time to mod it, so u will be left with no transport in the meantime...

errr..the pro that i can think of... well, you have a 'sprint' with a newer engine casing. haha

Posted

always think long time chung, that's what i think. but oh well, ultimately it's your decision i guess. for me, just that one reason you stated (low resale value) is enough to turn me off getting a PX then modding it up to a sprint or a super. plus of cos, actually owning a nice A plate (recently i have been very attracted to AM plates and earlier A plates like AC, AG, etc) gives your bike this wow factor i feel. to be real frank, at the risk of offending some people in here, sometimes i spot a modded up classic and go wow, but then i see the plate and i would be like "eh kena cheated" haha quite sian. same goes for nice A plate vespas which are in lousy condition too. looking at them makes me go "oh man such a pity". just saw an AV or AY (can't remember) plate vespa (rode by an uncle) and it was in very bad condition. oh man i just felt so bad for the bike. the bike plus the plate could have been such a drool worthy object

Posted

yea good points. well what other people think i don't really care that much..

my engine is in pretty good condition so that's one less thing i would have to worry about. =P

let's say i do decide to do it.. what are the things i have to mod? on top of my head i can think of :

handlebar, side crowl, mud guard, nose, front leg shield, tail, 3 piece fork.. anything thing i've missed?

not much, but when u start changing stuff, you realise there will be more...

btw don't let sharpey see this..haha!

change to 3-fork suspension = nose-dive when u brake... so less effective..

=)
