Thanks bro. I called Stanley and he quoted me $110 for the tank alone. Quite ok since I'll be able to keep the pristine shine of the tank visible. One problem solved.

Good decision; tho I did my tank & lamps also for a total of $155 for my R1. I did not do the fairings cos it will gloss up my satin paint finish.

drilling definitely needed for the vfr to fix on sliders.

no-drill sliders are available but not recommended. the sliders will have a metal attachment such that it will appear from the fairing through the gap for the radiator. however, in the event of a fall/slide (as opposed to a drop), the slider will bend, and you can say good bye to the radiator.

Dude, any idea whether the no-drill sliders are readily available here?? If yes, perhaps I can get my stepdad to see what he can do at his factory... Harder metal perhaps???

Crash bars are ok IF you dont do much lane spliting and keep away from width-challenged spaces. It was made compulsory on all bikes abt 2 decades ago but was retracted due to numerous reports in Britain and Sg, of these bars causing crashes (hence crash bars sic) when riders brushes against objects with these protruberances.

I am one of these victims - was knocked unconscious and dislocated shoulder.

Bottom line - DON'T INSTALL THEM.- they are hazardous.

Dudes,

Just got my Viffer earlier today.... The new colour (Cosmic Black) is sweet!!

But it was spoilt by the ugly IU bracket installed by the bike shop. Anyone has any lobang for nice IU bracket? Where will it be bolted to?

hmm.. nvr see rear hugger in the list... is there any rear hugger for VFR in the 1st place?

Bro, the only hugger I see is in ebay. Selling for about USD129, I think.... SG very, very difficult to find. Will have to order anyhow.

USD129 sounds reasonable.

they are easy to find if you know where to look ;) if you can't find, you can drop a pm to motovation_accessories and ask for skidmarx huggers.

there are some other brands from 70 pounds onwards. Some will set you back for USD 230. the nicest one i've seen cost > USD300.

the original list doesn't have hugger because i only wanted to focus on price on original parts or aftermarket replacement of the original parts. hugger isn't an 'original' part on the bike.

Which reminds me, anyone has any idea how much the BMW touring grips cost? Wanting to get it to cut down the vibes on long trips...

I am looking for that BMW grips too for my humble 4*4... :)

If anyone knows where we can get it and how much, pls share, if you don't mind. :)

The last I heard from somewhere in this forum is that a pair cost around S$20+, can get from the somewhere along Bukit Timah Road, think is some BMW show-room or something like that along Bukit Timah Road. But I am not sure about how true this news is.

You can get it at M-Technik for $35 plus install.($20+ was last time price).

You can get it cheaper from PML but they dun install for you.

Past rides are already history....

Hi, James996,

Thanks for your input.

Alternatively, I know the shop opposite Regina sells GPR ones at S$10-odd, but I am not sure how good the quality is, compared to BMW ones.

Bro James996, so M-Technik also carries BMW accessories???

BTW, got your SMS to my mobile of your self-intro liao. Sorry that I didn't reply you.

Hi, BlackBandit,

Perhaps we can arrange to meet and go M-Technik together to fix up the BMW hand-grips (but I don't know how to go...)...

Then I can go there to look at their H&B boxes too... To see what makes them so good that a Junior 45L rear box costs a whopping S$560. :giddy: :giddy: :faint: :faint: :faint:

Hi, James996,

Yes, I have heard of it before and went to the shop to ask the boss about it too. He even showed me a GPR catalogue and pointed to me the picture and told cost around 10-odd dollars. :)

Yes, I know. That's why there is a saying in Chinese "Yi Fen Qian, Yi Fen Huo"... "One cent worth of money = One cent worth of product (product quality)"... :)

Thanks for the address, James. :thumb:
