take the $, take the new owner IC. go down LTA and transfer.. it's owner choice to laid up bike(means no nid buy insurance).. or owner buy non-riding insurance..

if wana transfer w/o insurance MUST laid up.. if not new owner get insurance first.. then transfer..

I didn't really understand this cause it was too broken up. So the person who wants to buy the bike gives the money to the seller. Then the seller borrows the IC and goes to LTA, and what's the transfer procedure here?

And a laid-up bike is one w/o insurance? What do you do for a lay-up?

lay up is kindda a term use for the bike who is registered to a owner but the owner cant use that particular vehicle to ride around. If wanna ride, just apply for insurance and unlay the bike

Both seller and buyer go to LTA. Buyer pays seller. Transfer ownership first then apply for lay up. Can be done at the same visit with the same queue number. Once ownership is transferred, it's none of the seller's business what the buyer does with his bike.

lta answered my question.

another question: how much is a non rider's insurance?

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

the lta hotline is not accurate at all.. told me say need insurance when lay up, actual fact is NO NEED.
