I strongly suggest you pair that with a neck scarf. Buff scarves are a good idea.

Sand hitting your chin? Not fun.

Cheap inspection gloves, the single button types that bus drivers like to wear, they are good enough to prevent your knuckles from hurting from sand, but rest assured that it will tear when you fall.

Have fun eating your hot dogs!

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Happen to come across this link Convoy Riding

This person summary on convoy riding (not mine) to share with all :

Group Motorcycle Riding

We have been riding in convoys during some of our rides. A few key points worth reiterating would be :

- ride staggered i.e. first bike to right of the lane, 2nd bike to left of same lane, etc

- if first rider is the lead, do not overtake him and 2nd riders, etc shd keep sufficient distance to brake safely or to negotiate a turn left/right

- agree on the destination and route so as to cut down on miscomm

- don't sacrifice safety or break traffic rules just to keep the convoy intact. Better to let the riders ahead continue when traffic light changes. The riders in front can stop further ahead and wait.

- agree on rest points/top up points etc

- work out a system of communication between riders

Finally, remember that safety is your own personal responsibility. It is NOT the responsibility of your buddy or the ride organiser... ;)

Ride safe!

Excellent sharing Lanzer, thank you !

Everyone, please have a read at both links.

Here's another interesting extract from the discussion:

i also did some reflection on the last trip into kulai.

the reduced visibility from the rain, and the glare from the droplets on the visor and incoming traffic really made it difficult to see what's in front of the bike. i remember i had to glance left towards the left lane markings and guide the bike between this marking and alvin's rear light. but otherwise, i wouldnt be able to see the rider in front of me at all - even though alvin was in a bright yellow raintop!

it was rather unnerving actually, and i thought it would be wise for each rider to don a really reflective vest for night riding to improve visibility and overall safety. hence, i thought if it will be more useful to get group reflective vests, say with the DRS logo or something? of course, for those who really insist, we can still decide on a separate T/poloT/shirt - but embroidered designs may be better.

There will be rain this Sunday morning in SG. I'll look up the MY forecast but we have to assume it will rain. We are not going to ride if it's raining too heavily, but light rain should allow us to keep on. But remember to bring your raincoat and also to stop if not comfortable riding in the rain. We can take shelter somewhere and chit chat 20-30min until the rain stops :)

If there's no free hands, I'm not it will be useful then because it will mean we'll only use them when we can take the helmet off or at least stop the bike. So don't trouble yourself, we'll manage without :o

For the FF, I think you should fit an L right ? What's the size of your helmet ? I have a spare L and my pillionette has a spare M or S, not sure which, will ask her later. If you have a way to check your helmet size lt me know or try an HJC helmet somewhere. If not, we can meet tmr or sat for you to try them. I live in the west. Or you can go to a motoworld shop and try an HJC helmet :cheeky:

If you want to stick with your open face helmet you can, but bring something to cover your neck like spaid said - if it's windy or rains it will be useful to keep you from catching a cold too..

I think one of them should fit.

Problem is, how do you from gelamg patah go back south to the J4 as on the initial itinerary shown above ?

There is a way to exit the highway to GP and Esso station, but I can't see I way once there to reach the J4 in the south..

Looking to purchase a Bajaj Avenger, preferably direct from dealer (Universal Motors?)

Anyone have experience with the model? Mainly concerned about performance and reliability issues, also availability of accessories and if I have to go back to UM to service and repair. Am hoping the parts base for Bajaj machines is more developed than when Bajaj entered the SG market. Won't want to be forced to import parts from India!

Basically I like economical small 'chopper' type bikes that require little maintenance, I have a Phantom which doesn't complain when trashed an entire year that doesn't seem to need or want maintenance. Fuel efficiency 40km/l @ 100-110kph daily and am hoping the Avenger's newer engine would top that.

Hi,

the avenger 200 is using almost the same engine as the pulsar 200

like the pulsars the parts for avenger are available at UM

they have stocks for it

but the bad news is that UM does not bring in any more new avenger 200

the last time i went down on 21st Mar there is only 1 avenger(red colour) left in there

according to chris that is the last unit and they are no longer bringing it in as the avenger in india now is 220cc

you can try to go down to see if it is still available

Such crazy people exist everywhere bro, your friend did the right thing. Better not to get into conflict with these kind of people, you never know what kind of people they are. Its just not worth it, best to ignore them and not lose our peace of mind.

+1 to that. Just doesn't make any financial sense to buy brand new 2B bike spending close 7k. Its just going to depreciate like a stone.

Hi,

the avenger 200 is using almost the same engine as the pulsar 200

like the pulsars the parts for avenger are available at UM

they have stocks for it

but the bad news is that UM does not bring in any more new avenger 200

the last time i went down on 21st Mar there is only 1 avenger(red colour) left in there

according to chris that is the last unit and they are no longer bringing it in as the avenger in india now is 220cc

you can try to go down to see if it is still available

Even the Pulsar 200 was stopped in India long ago. Wonder how its still available here. Maybe they are manufacturing small numbers for export market
