don't know what you guys are paying for petrol...but I got some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every litre of petrol.

1. ONLY BUY OR FILL UP YOUR CAR OR BIKKIE IN THE EARLY MORNING WHEN THE GROUND TEMPERATURE IS STILL COLD!!!.

Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground, the denser the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening.... your litre is not exactly a litre.

In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products play an important role. A 1degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

2. WHEN YOU'RE FILLING UP, DO NOT SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER OF THE NOZZLE TO A FAST MODE.

If you look, you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode, you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created, while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

3. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS IS TO FILL UP WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL.

The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank, the less air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.

4. IF THERE IS A FUEL TRUCK PUMPING INTO THE STORAGE TANKS, WHEN YOU STOP TO BUY, DO NOT FILL UP

Most likely the petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hope, this will help you get the maximum value for your money.

when one parks in a hot area, gasoline evaporates faster too so must we park under a cool shelter all the time? if cannot find such a spot how?

ONLY BUY OR FILL UP YOUR CAR OR BIKKIE IN THE EARLY MORNING WHEN THE GROUND TEMPERATURE IS STILL COLD!!!.

the difference in atmospheric temperature in our tropical weather will not greatly alter the volume of gasoline to such a cost saving extent

WHEN YOU'RE FILLING UP, DO NOT SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER OF THE NOZZLE TO A FAST MODE.

when the fuel tank cap is opened, gasoline will evaporate at a rate faster than if it is closed. filling the gas tank slowly will allow more time for the gasoline to evaporate, in the end still LPPL.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS IS TO FILL UP WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL.

the more you open your gas tank cap, the more instances where the gasoline has a better chance of evaporating to the atmosphere. the breather hose has a small opening, when you open the cap, you get an exponential increase in evaporation surface area, how much can you save?

as for filling up when the tank is refuelling, that's pretty subjective. for all you know, tanker just fill up and left, sediment still floating around and just nice you roll into the station and pump. also LPPL. in the end, ignorance is bliss

Haha, i have a habit of only pumping petrol in the late night about 10pm+ or early morning. If not choice have to go out in the afternoon and no petrol then will pump. Otherwise, will pump at funny hours.

But i find pumping at those funny hours i can get better fuel topup, dunno if it's true.

Nice info Bro but u forgot :

Most importantly, make sure you are filling up in M'sia where the prices are cheaper :cheeky:

This one trick by itself confirm save the most money.

When I read about the dangers of riding motorbikes, I gave up reading.

lol! yea.. i always get tailgated because i'm riding according to the speed limit.. :faint:

It's not how fast you ride, but how well you ride.

sometimes i don't really care anymore, ppl tailgate me i'll just keep to the speed limit.. if they want to find trouble i have to law on my side =DD

give way to avoid being tailgated...even if u are within speed limits unless u r not on the right lane.

no.. i keep within the speed limit on the left lane somemore, if they want to tailgate me because the other faster lanes have cars and my lane is clear ahead

Hi,

Is it really true that its bad for engines when we go in almost empty tank to pump in m'sia?

Some of my colleagues were saying that it will "hurt" the engine in some ways..

But others some said its ok...

Yet even some ppl go to the extent of telling me that if your fuel tank is empty, it allow some "air" to seep into the engine which might be bad for the engine la...

Any bros here can share your experience or side of the facts?

Thanks!

:)

doing harm to engine? doesnt that means that you will have to pump petrol every 2 days? The "dont almost empty tank" think is referring to old bikes which might cause rust to the inner part of the tanks bahs but doesnt applies onli to m'sia. Maybe ask back ur fren loh, u almost reserve liao, from bdk still can tahan to jurong will harm a not? nv go in m'sia den pump lei. :faint:
