Hi copguys. When setting your tyre pressure, you take a few things into account which makes the ideal pressure different for different people.

1. Are you heavier than the normal rider of a KR150? (Whats normal anyway??)

2. What type of riding do you do? (Raceing? Commuting?)

3. What are the weather conditions like? (Hot, Cold, wet?)

A normal KR150 rider would just use a compromize setting that works ok in most situations. I would suggest 26-30psi.

Tyres only work at their best when they get heated up by 3 or 4 psi. That is when they give the best grip. So to find the ideal pressure, you check the tyre pressure when the tyre is COLD. (ie. before you start riding). Then after you have riden for say 10 minutes you stop and check the pressure again with the same gauge. This is the HOT pressure.

Ideally there should be a pressure change of 4psi. So if they were 26psi when cold, you want them 30psi when hot for best grip.

How hard you ride and the weather conditions will affect how much the tyres heat up. On a wet day at the track I will go as low as 22psi in my front tyre to get the heat build up requied for grip. The less pressure in the tyre allows the tyre to flecks more which creates heat. There is also less air in the tyre to be heated up which allows the tyre itself to heat quicker. Therefore the more air you but in, say up to 36psi, the slower the tyre heats up. and infact if you are not rideing the bike hard through the corners, it may not get to ideal operating tempature at all.

Of course with around town stop start riding, the tyre may not get a chance to heat up properly at all. But as long as we are aware of that, and ride accordingly (safely) all will be good. (except for those 'cage' drivers pulling out in front of you ofcourse!)

Anyway,, thats just my thoughts.

see what others say.

Racey.

Well. unless he's been going track often. Otherwise i think its a waste of money.

not really its subjective when it comes to single cylinder of 40ps

scuffing is indication of piston gonna kaput

rings with little or no compression equal loss of power

it doesnt matter ya ride on road or track the bike should always to kept at good if

not tip top cond like the way a jet does execept it falls from the sky like we stuck

So what you're trying to tell the whole world is that even the elite in the motorcycling world (Like Rossi, Bayliss, Corser, Gibernau etc..) that (1) they don't need to wear safety gear and (2) they never crash their bikes?

While I see what you are trying to say (Which is partially true), please note that increment in psi is dependant on operating temperatures and does not necessarily mean 3-4psi is ideal. It's the objective figure that matters.

i would like to tell those who wanna go track but have not step there..

1st..change a pair of good tyres 1st

2nd.. ur brakes

3rd..check ur suspension whether is it faulty coz i dun think u like to be throw off your bike when u are at the corner

coz i notice most of the pl here riding kawa the tyre not very ideal unless u all go track slowly ride..but i dun think so ba coz seen quite a lot of ppl 1st time go track wanna prove to many ppl out there that they R FAST so seen many fall.

and if when u are used to the track thingy u will notice that aiyo my tyre botak..why brake pad just change and due to braking after long time in the track brake not v gd le brake fade.. coz used lousy brake pad temp range too low..

going track to learn how to ride safely is gd

but go there play needs quite a lot $$$$$
