if got a switch to disable headlight and rearlight, will fail? previous owner got it installed..

 

Just switch on the headlights when inspection is going on

Shouldn't have any problem. They usually look at the lighting, number plate, exhaust, and rear mudguard.

Hi Guys,

 

I have bought bike from my friend who is on oversea currently.

The RoadTax has been ended on Mid of March ( already expired more than one month).

Please kindly share/advice on following.

 

# Inspection

- Inspection can be done without the owner?

- what are the documents needed for inspection?

- Can I ride the (road tax expired) bike to the inspection center?

- Is there any service provider like I call then and they will tow the bike and do the inspection?

 

# Owner Transfering

Would like to transfer ownership to me.

Since insurience and road tax is expired. Is it possible to transfer to my name first without renewing roadtax/inspection based on current owner name?

Otherwise, i have to renew all based on my friend name and transfer my name ( helllll,,, double loss)

 

Please help me sharing some info guys.Thx

# Inspection

Yes

 

- what are the documents needed for inspection?

Nothing. Just bring the bike to the inspection center, pay $18, then get it inspected.

 

- Can I ride the (road tax expired) bike to the inspection center?

No. You cannot ride the bike even if the road tax is valid, as you are not the registered owner, and there is no insurance coverage. Even if you are the sub-rider under your friend's insurance (assuming it's still valid), it is still an offence (serious one) to ride with expired road tax.

 

- Is there any service provider like I call then and they will tow the bike and do the inspection?

Many bike shops offer this service. You need to check around. Costs between $70 to $100.

 

# Owner Transfering

Nope. Only resort is to send to shop. Ask them send for u. But come at a price

I did pass inspection with racing footrest on SP. But he did told me to get it changed :cheeky:

Sp kr tzm 50% pass 50%fail. Depends on the guy. But for spark very little to no chances of passing for ownself send bike

You can extend your insurance for an extra 1 month so as to be able to renew your road tax for 6 months. You are not allowed to renew road tax for 5 months. Only 6 or 12 months of renewal is allowed.

just go ur insurance extend until the road tax expire in dec la..follow ur road tax disc date...chilll man...small matter bro

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that

if fail inspection ,,,,u can just ask nicely wat u need to change or do to pass n can u come back same day get the failed thingie passed,,,,the inspection ok if u say u jus buy it over n didnt know the previous owner changed things until cannot pass.........................

den extend 1 more mth insurance.

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

 

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment,and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

 

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

I do agree LTA should set up counter that help people buy insurance as well, then dun need force some rider (for convenience sake, i noe alot of this case :|), risk their license, risk riding off their new 2nd hand bike without insurance to nearby ntuc.

You need to have insurance first before you can transfer at lta and ride off. For those wanting to renew insurance, they have the option of taking public to renew. Its the choice they choose. Most know but lazy, end up facing the consequences.

 

Might as well ask lta to set up hdb counter also, buy season parking. Or maybe 7-11 also. :)
