how much does a drz S or E model cost nowadays.

and roughly how much is the insurance for a 24yrs old?

thanks bros & sis here

insurance is dependant on how many years old is the licence. eg. if you pass your 2a on 20 mar 06 and you're 35 yr old, the insurance premium might not be as cheap as a 35 yr old with a 2a licence for more than 10 years. 2nd party insurance will be about the range of 700 odd for a new licence holder.

age is not a major factor now. age of the licence is.

for DRZ-E models. these are the rare bikes. they're going at about 6k-8k depending on condition and year of the bike... only 2 year of the bike was brought in... the 2000 and the 2001 ones.

DRZ S model is cheaper.. it will cost around the range of 4k-6k depending on condition.

this is just my observation... i may be wrong as well.. the above figures are all ball park figures.

Took the Baby Raptor today from Speedway and rode to Motoworld. Next thing is KP shows me a street legal Yoshimura Tri-oval carbon end can that is part of a full titanium exhaust system.

I can resist anything but temptation and the rest is history.

Just one question though.... there is always a loud pop (backfire) every time I close the throttle to pick up the gears. There is some backfiring again when I close throttle for a while after downshifting especially when coasting to a stop.

Do I need to change to a bigger idling jet or at least turn out the mixture screw??

Awesome!

Backfiring seems pretty common with DRZ's.

As for it being too lean I'm not so sure. Usually backfiring is a result of unburnt fuel/mixture making it into the exhaust system and then igniting. If a bike is too lean then usually all the mixture is burnt in the combustion chamber.

Anyway, this is what I know from cars and don't really know sh1t about the exact situation on such a bike.

modern 4 stroke thumpers are running slightly leaner. deceleration poppings is quite normal.

popping could be due to too lean or too rich for drz. when there's flames, it's usually backfire and it usually means it's too rich. if it pops without flames, it's usually too lean or there's leak at the exhaust.

to be more accurate. it's better to do a plug chop test.

Posted

Took out the plug today and it was greyish white, sure signs of a lean mixture.

Changed the main jet from size 142.5 (wierd number!!) to a size 150.

Still pops sometimes during gear changes but not as badly as before, especially when downshifting. Engine feels smoother now. Understand that there is a jetting kit for this bike, someone mentioned Dynojet I think.

Thanks for your inputs by way. A really fun bike to ride!!!!

Can't wait to run in the bike and bring it down to PG for a test run.

Can someone take this newbie on an introductory spin at PG???

for MCCT, if theres any issues, the engine will sound loud rattling and the MCCT itself wil vibrates..just do the norm procedures and tighten it again..

for ACCT, once the problems comes, too late oready bro...

Took the bike to Vicom to have the exhaust LTA cleared.

Vicom guy snaps the throttle a few times and each time there were loud backfirings which triggered the FAIL light to come on their screen!!

Told him it is going to do that if he snaps the throttle. So he says he will ask his supervisor to have a look see. Supervisor comes over and revs up the bike slowly and smoothly, and the exhaust passed the decibel test.

Now the exhaust can pop each time I upshift in a quick pick up for all I care. Heheh.

Now to look at the Kenso jetting kit for the bike.

the screw bro...now you exhuast is so "clear..."back presurre also diff, it is probably running a little lean...thats why got no flames...back fire pop is sure have one..

i dun think there is a cat for these bikes so it is even easier for it to back fire... some more its a single cam, super torquey...

ps: exhaust have little or no flame means lean...

if the flames are blueish, then its just nice...

if the flames are yellow orange, then too rich...which also mean the flames are hotter and will have soot on your signal lights...

and one more thing...you just made me fu**ing tempted....

I would like to ask you all whether you have any idea of what part upgrade that can be changed on a DRZ and the pricings. I have been riding a Drz for awhile and been stock ever since bought >.

try to get 2nd party... in case of a freak fire incident or theft.. at least you're covered and is able to claim for your motorcycle.

by law, you are not allowed to change anything on the bike.. you might want to add some case savers to those fragile engine casing you have over there... they provide bare minimal protection... but at least, it protects... it could save you some trouble if you were to drop your bike in a jungle trail... you get what i mean?

you can get more info from this site... http://drz.info/

yah man, i just broke my engine cover, for the 2nd time! argh :sian:

Anyone doing an order for the engine casing covers?? I would like to join in too, if I may.

Saw a KTM at PG today with Michelin Pilot Power Race tyres. The rear tyre was a 150, can that fit on a DRZ??

Where can I get those tyres from and how much do they cost? I have the same tyres on my CBR1000 and they worked great at Sepang.
