Dear 2 wheeler, I saw the other day people are bidding more than $2000 for motorcycle coe. Well let's stop it at 1k. i believe the people who bid for these are actually shop owners and dealers who are thinking of their own pockets. if you think about it: they bid very high and got the bike and costumer so eager to have their brand new bike would not consider the coe price because they think aiyah pay every month not ex what. but actually it is ex. please guys , dont be like car drivers, they are willing to splurge their money almost 60k just to get coe. STUPID !!!!! right???? i also enjoy big car, but where is the brain. maybe those who have money really dont think hard for their money because they know they can get from others easily.

Hi. My opinion on this "COE, extend or not?" situation is, there should be one more choice for this poll.

*Scrap and buy 2nd hand bike from another seller.

For example, if my COE seriously going to end now, and I still need a bike for transport, and I dont want to take public transport, then I still suck thumb need to carry on riding right. So now need to compare, pay $2k and carry on riding current bike. or pay $2k + $$$$$ for new machine price and every other cost? Of course some bikes may need some tuning and servicing to keep on running for another ten years, but I believe the owner will understand the situation of his bike best as they take care of their bike very well and very likely the bike still has the horses to pull them along. In this comparison, the rider will need to calculate the cost of paying for a new bike, and the cost of possible upcoming maintenance of current bike and make a decision according to his needs and ability.

So another way may be to scrap bike, buy another 2nd hand bike of reasonable quality and carry on riding if you do not want to pay the $2k COE. Basically I think it is important for each rider to calculate the cost of each options and decide which suits them best. But if you got the $$$ and willing to spend freely then there's is no need for this discussion.

For me, i still have not made a decision because COE still can last 2++ years.

I think that there is still enough bikes to go around. or a better alternative for those who is seeking a transport bike, get it second hand.

no point wasting your money to get a brand new bike with a brand new COE, when there are so many unutilised old bikes rusting around in bikeshops with years of COE to spare.

hi, does the letter from LTA give u the choice of 5 or 10 years to renew. my case gg to pay a guy $750 for a pretty well maintained TA200,expire in aug 2011. but the issue is take a bet on coe...now is over 2k. i kind of love the bike, press of a button the fellow starts at once and chain and tyres are all changed.

i assume it a good take over except must pray for coe to drop some kind. looking as a tpt b/w my jurong home and work place at changi

I paid $700 for a very good condition TA200 with COE expiring in 2013. Mileage only 4400km. I believe you can get a better deal if you look around harder. 5 months for COE to drop is very short time.

Lol!! I can't believe u found a cheaper deal than me..I bough mine for 800 since dec2010, expiring jan2012! Haha..

Anyway where can we check if the Coe is renewable?

Your COE sure can renew because all Phantoms are just hitting the 10 year mark. You cannot renew a bike after the COE has been renewed for 5 years.

Tough luck. I think this year gonna be high all the way. Must wait and see next year when govt set the quota for number of new vehicles.

If the COE is renewed before the expiry then the moving average of last 3 months COE price will be applicable. So all those FU and FV plate phantom riders who want to renew their COE better renew your COE soon because the current rate has shot up to 2600$ and in couple of month the average will be 2600$. Now you will benefit due to the cheap COE prices in Jan and Feb.

But I still dont understand one thing, when the COE prices fell to 0$ in 2008 why didnt all those FU and FV plate phantom riders not renew their COEs:slapforehead:
