HI Joel , Manage to call Boon Siew the sales person on lunch break went down to show room did not see the silver wing on display . Ask about it from counter receptionist ask another lady to come out to tell me to call back again to look for the sales person . I check with the Lady if they sell direct she said yes but now don't have stock and ask me to call the dealers .

Very strange and odd ward feeling buying a brand new bike whoch they sell direct but does not care to take my particular , despite I told them that I was recommended to buy from boon Siew .

So decided to look at Yamaha show room they do not have a 400cc scooter .

Later went to AS Phoon to view the used silver wing and also had a chance to view the Suzuki Burgaman looks great .

Any commence or advice if i should buy a silver wing or the Burgaman ?

Yamaha Majesty 400 also EOL. Now 400cc SG contender are Suzuki Burgman 400 and Kymco Xciting 400i

For Boon Siew, I deal with that person, his name is Bryant Gan, call their main line 63399002 before dropping by.

I normally call to make appointment with him before my visit. He is a straight forward person and a nice guy.

Hi Joel , thanks for the info I will give it a try . I spoke to AS Phoon guys he is Malaysian also very nice says able to throw in accessories when I buy from him .

It will be nice to talk to a strait guy so we can do a clear decision of which brand to buy . My concern is after sales and parts availability . If the silver wing going EOL soon that will be a concern .

Many thanks for your reply Joel .

SW will still have parts available even if production stop.

You should be lucky if there are any new FJS400 hiding in some bike shop.

Anyway, SWT has a price premium over other 400cc scooters. A few $k difference.

If you like smoothness and quietness with big storage, then prepare to spend the extra $$ for a SW.

Otherwise, the Burgman400 or other 400cc should be good for local rides or light tour.

Have to apologise again have lost touch on bike for 20 plus years not familiar with the short terms and lingo .

Just went to LAB ( easy to remember any one ride motor cycle will sure know ) yesterday , he is as friendly as ever . Could not recognise him after so many years , his voice is cord is damage .

LAB does not carry scooter accessories much according to him only tyres and belt .

So have to hunt for other place for SW-T accessories , like camera , phone holder , large cover for scooter , seat net seam is a in thing , may be new rear box and stickers to cover scratches , for body and plastic on exhaust .

Hope can share some site or picture of bikes are install with nice accesories .

Thanks

There isn't any more SW-T in production. What we have on the roads that's it.

I think I better service my bike nice nice to keep it road worthy for long long or at least another 5 years till COE ends.

Still got many places of interest in Thailand to cover.

Hi fellow forumers,

I do not own a SW but am very interested in owning one, hence i would like to do some research first.

May i ask,

Are SW parts exclusive to themselves? Are they common/generic? I.e. to say if i nd to change "insert part", can I get it easily as it is commmonly shared with other bikes/scooters?

I would also like to hear your experience re:

1. Static handling. I.e. manouvering to park/forward backwards etc (worry due to the rather heavy weight n long wheelbase)

2. Manouvering between vehicles on the road

Am trying to look thru the threads (2k+ pages) slowly, so if ive asked sth thats been asked befr i apologise in advance.

Just go here for some info will do.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/325894-lt-Info-gt-Silverwing-400cc-600cc-Tech-Corner

As for handling... depends on strength and skill. I don't have problem so far, not that I'm strong. One of the rider is a small sized chap yet he owns the SW for close to 10 years already.

Some may complain abt its weight when pushing. They'll end up buying a lighter scooter soon.

Lane splitting... depends on balls and skill. No problem since most SW owners are very confident about theirs.

I have recently also went thru the forum , also got lost and overloaded with info. There was a few of them which are active and responded , gave good tip also some pre written by gurus .

The Honda silverwing is great bike to ride very effortless coming from some who has not ride for 20+ years . The power is remarkable in shot distance you will hit 80 Km the ride is very smooth pick up . The vibration is not on the handle bar more from power of the engine . Weight was also one of my concern , it was easy to over come as the rider seat is lowered so much easier to reverse or on idle on traffic junction . I am 1.68 m in height last time when I was riding the Yamaha FZR 400 I have to tip toe all the time .

What like about it is the space on the seats and with a extra box behind is perfect can have two helmets and all the covers , wind breaker jackets, rain , caps , paper work ... wah very shiok . Now figure out how to get my sunday golf bag to ride to Driving range .

There is a well recommended mechanic shop AC motor or can go back to Boon Siew , parts are available from local or even buy on line from japan . Buying of bikes you can still pre order from the dealers or you can try calling to arrange with Boon Siew . There is a shipment of SW-T coming in you can booked in advance . I was looking for a brand new unit at fist but was turn off by poor reception and no procedure of sales approach on Boon Siew side . I went around to looking for Honda dealers listing some suggested other brands , and the low stock and availability . Still determine to buy a Honda silverwing SW- T model manage to buy a 1 year 8 month old . It seems that is also parallel importer if you are keen , if I am not wrong as I was talking to the Honda dealers it does not come with warranty . The Local units come with 1 year warranty .

Yet to find out on the servicing cost on the main agent vs the others ?

Next is to look for holder for my phone and also install camera .

Hope it helps TYTY
