motorbikes and bikes related products/services are considered niche market in S'pore.

consider this...

out of 100 TV viewers, how many of them ride bikes or want to buy bike? compare this ratio to Thailand, Philippines etc.

so whats the best media to advertise? here we r... SBF :D look ard ur browser page... and also MCA

Don't forget the Road Safety campaign posters and tv ads. Heee heee hee!!!

Actually if you look at things this way,

even car adverts don't show up so much. Those renowned brands like luxury cars and expensive sports dont do adverts. Mostly I see is those cars that are trying to break into foreign market or have a good profitability then do adverts.

Safety tips:

Always STOP at the STOP LINE!

Don't rush. You're not racing for a record.

Always look in front, especially when trying to change lanes, the vehicle in front might jam brake.

Don't be easily offended, a**holes exists, mingling with them gets you sh*t.

i see car advert in china many times in a day. In singapore, the maket is tooo small...how many bikes you need to sell in order to cover that additional cost? In the states or europe, I am sure they do some form of advertisement. I've seen some very cool BMW, honda, yasmaha adverts on youtube.

thanks for your contributions. come to think of it, with the government supplying only 10 000 registered motorbikes a year, an ad to increase the appeal of motorbikes might cause COE prices to rise to above the $900 we are seeing today!!

As a poor man's transport, pple like me sure to buy for use. No need for advertisement. If an advertising campaign is not likely to increase sales, the company's not gonna do it.

I think it is a possibility that the government censors "bike" advertisements. Won't know unless someone in the media line confirms this.

For the richer man, Ducanti/ Harley and such are well advertised in movies and US TV shows. No need for targeted advertising here anymore.

U think too much.

It's just not worth it to advertise bikes on TV here. Target demographics too small. Besides, the various bike magazines already do a good job.

That's it.

the government dunch want the majority of the population to know the joy of riding

because if people realise that riding a class 2B bike is cheaper than taking the public transport, people will switch to bikes like the kups.

soon singapore will be like vietnam

anyway singapore favor elitism, so what is the point?

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

Then we shld brainwash the general population with our lifestyle, Vietnam is developing, we are already developed. Bikers shld go out more, dine in fine restaurants, show off fancy bikes, zipped around causually in town. Then people will start to think how cum we so rich! cheaper ERP, lower road tax, no draggin car instalments, got spare cash for indulgence!!!

Whereas car owners, tear a 50cts coupon also cannot afford, cheapskate like dunno what lidat.

Population of motorbikes are too small in Singapore and it has been always very stable.

Just ponder why the COE is so sky rocket high right now.

Why do you think for every bad rider, there's 10 bad drivers? Yet they say bikes are dangerous, how many times have aburpt lane changing by cars have caused you to ride defensively and dangerously, jam brake etc.

i believe that its not about cars/bikes/busses/lorries... its abt the individual driver/rider... a driver who doesnt follow traffic rules will still do the same if he rides a bike.

actually, maybe not - these reckless drivers might only have enough balls to drive in a cage.

Some of the lorry drivers might not even have a valid license, they might not even be local huhuh. Of course its not the vehicle, a vehicle is just a machine. How many drivers ride and how many riders drive? Not checking blind spot on car means a rear end at most, on bike means you'll fly or get run over.
