I really hope to share some experience with u too. But the problem is, u are the old bird, i am the new bird. How can a new bird teach a old bird anything! :cheeky: haha! No lar just joking.

Even though i never manage to get a taste of the track today, but i would say, the trip there has not gone wasted. Cos i learnt so much abt the bike today from u guys, especially from Damien. Kaoz, he is a walking Ducati Manual so far i have met, man! Very resourceful. Lets hope the next session will be more fun. But in the mean time we can arrange for coffee session also!

Ha ha, you will get yourself arrowed now that you said kopi....

ktkt is the eagle here looking for organisor to get the Duc owners together for kopi/meetup from this forum....

Yeah, nice to see you in person...you are a nice guy to chat up with!!!

You are such a nice chap that you stayed back to accompany Uncle Felix.....guess you felt bad not meeting him to go PG together, so you ride with him on the journey back huh? :cheeky: Uncle Felix alright one lah, not so petty I know..... :thumb:

Talk about spin, so sorry I rode so fast on our local rd....could get us both into trouble, if you know what I mean.....I kindda lost my sensible self whenever I get to ride the duke..... :sorry: my bad.....

Hahaha, ya lor, feel paiseh didn't join him on the way in. Actually we discuss abt the trip 2wks ago, but last min change of plan. To make things worse, he paid for my petrol on the way bk on second link...damn paiseh man.

Hahaha, i can understand...on a duke it is a total diff machine, it have soul of itself. The way it roars and spins its gear like no other bike does. Coz of my shoulder condition, the heavy clutch puts loads on my nerves. That is why on local rds, i have not nuz choice but to ride it like a stolen bike...in order to reduce the frequency on changing gears.

My 749 cost me $1200++ for a 3rd party fire and theft. I am 24 yrs old! Yours might be less than $1400, maximum $1500.

About the heavy clutch, one solution, a $300 solution actually, is to get an aftermarket clutch slave cylinder with larger bore... Almost half the lever effort required.

Looks great too! :thumb:

Breakdown of owning a Duke (I'm just bored, and everytime i calculate I seem to get a different result)

Time based

Insurance - $1400 per year

Road Tax- $320 per year

Season Parking - $14 per month

Works out to $157 per month

Mileage based

Essentials

Petrol - Average 16km/litre @ $1.85 per litre, $0.1156 per km

Engine Oil - 4x$18 per 5000km, $0.0144 per km

Oil Filter - $50? per 10000km, $0.005 per km

Maintenance - $700+ for 10,000 service, $1000+ for 20,000 service

Adds up to $0.085 per km

Wear and tear

Tyres (Diablo Corsa or equivalent) - Destroyed in 5000km for mixed riding (Sport touring, street riding, trackdays) $450, $0.09 per km

Chain and Sprockets - Lasts ~30,000km usually - $250, $0.00833 per km

Clutch plates - Mixed riding- lasts ~30,000km - $300, $0.01 per km

Brakepads - Mixed riding - lasts ~30,000km - $200, $0.0066 per km

TOTAL - $0.3346 per KM.

So you see, maintenance is not the biggest cost of owning a Duke. Its mainly petrol, and tyres. Most of the costs are the same as any bike of the same category. (Insurance, fuel, tyres, engine oil, chain sprockets etc etc). Those who visit the track often know how fast a powerful bike, not just a Duke, can destroy tyres, sometimes within just 1000km.

Prices may vary depending on source, mileage my vary depending on usage. Generally the harder you ride the bike, the more expensive it is.

neo thats really cool, i did a mental calculation once and based on petrol and servcing i think it cost abt 20 cent per km and abt $2 per 10 km. i forgot to input the other factor which is tire

so i think based and a very rough break down per km

10 cents goes to minerva/kallang cycle

10 cents goes to Government

10 cents goes to the Arabs

this weekend i think raptor mentioned track is open any takers??

No prob. Something to think about when riding your beloved

Its not chrome, its anodised Billet Aluminium. :D Its not just a nice ventilated clutch cover, its designed to protect the clutch itself. Much stronger than stock.

Costs around $380 inclusive of shipping. Comes with the throwout bearing too.

Yup....got the STM from Joe thru RedRocket. Got it together with him in fact.....just that I have to wait for the lunch break alone while the rest left me there for the SBF anniversary thingy.
