yup! i agree. if thats the case, then there wouldn't be much of a difference doing it anywhere else.

by the way, ktkt, do you know if the 999 Marchesini front & rear rims would be compatible with the ST4?

Front and rear can fit but.

1) Front speedo mechanism is different. Not too sure our speedometer mechanism can fit or not. So if using the front wheel, gotta find some other way to make the speedo work

2) Rear wheel can fit also but gotta get different bearing to make the ST4 25mm axle fit. The 999 wheels have a bigger wheel axle. So change bearing will do.

Then again, the rotor and sprocket offset might be different so might have to factor this in.

Ur best bet is a 02 onwards 5 spoke Marchesini found on the newer ST4S.

Direct fitment. I bought a set so confirm can work.

I spent $700 to respray my whole bike red, and its nowhere close to the quality of the original paint. ie dust, uneven gloss coat, and the gloss is not as deep as the original one.

Well, I guess there are no real good painters in SIngapore, or no one is willing to paint properly. A proper spray job requires alot of preperation, including chemically cleaning the surface in a clean room pioir to spraying.

I don't think painters are willing to do that to our tiny little bike fairings, or spray multiple coats of paint and clear coat for that deep shine.

i think in one of the previous threads, there was a person who wanted to sell off his 916. the person repainted his 916 DIY withsome high quiality paint and his Duke was super glossy.

Maybe it would be better to ask him how to do it since i would be a waste of money to have it sprayed outside.

Are you running stock exhaust? It's common for the duc to be rough under 5k rpm.

Duc riders, correct me if I'm wrong, as this is common on my 748. :cheeky:

for me there was some clutch slipping in the very low rpm 1-2k region. and usually in first gear, after that its prettty smooth (for a duke)

do anyone experience a freq gear slip?

mine always change from gear 1 to neutral when the bike is starting to move off(biting point, if u know what i meant)

is it common for dry clutch bikes?

Normal for Ducati bikes to be rough when under 3-4k rpm. Jerky/knocky.

However, it shouldn't get stuck at 4 - 5k rpm when you open throttle.

I suspect you might have a blown fuel line inside the fuel tank. The blown fuel line

might be due to a clogged fuel filter inside the fuel tank. The pressure due to the clogged fuel filter will split the fuel line inside the fuel tank and when you open throttle, the fuel doesn't go to ur injector, it will just leak back into the tank.

What bike did you get?

Why never join us at Simpang yesterday.

No it's not, I have never heard of any Ducati auto changing from gear one to neutral when moving off from stand still.

You might want to have it checked out.

Hard to engage neutral is a sign of worn out clutch basket/plates but am not too sure what is the problem for a autochanging gearing issue when moving off.

It might be something more sinister and causing ur bike not to go above 5krpm when open throttle instead of the fuel line split which I thought might be the cause of ur problem.

actually i just changed the clutch plates. about 400 bucks just for the plates.

ya the jerking problem is due to the fuel line i guess. dirty fuel line or filter. but it was solved when i put some fuel injector cleaner into my petrol last nite. have to monitor and see if it still persistent.

Where can i find the fuel filter?i lifted up the tank and find the fuel line but not the fuel filter.

but the changing to neutral issue is bothering me

:sian:

when u lift the tank up, u have the fuel pump assembly underneath at the bottom of the tank.

The fuel lines u see there to the injectors are the external fuel line.

Inside the fuel tank, where the fuel pump assembly is, that's where the fuel filter is.

There's also a internal fuel line there which will normally split open due to the fuel filter being clogged.

So you have to open up the fuel pump assembly to replace the fuel filter and the fuel line inside.

A simple job.

I only worry for your from gear 1 auto change to neutral.

Might be a transmission problem?

Recently a Ducati rider got killed along Holland Road , after 2am in the morning. He was only 32 yrs old, and left behind a daughter 4 yrs old, and young wife. He is not a speed-king, but apparently he doze off on his bike. Hit the railing , got his left throat arterial vein cut and died on the spot. There was no braking marks and TP said no collision. His blood shot off from his neck. Bled to death.

Pse make sure when you ride your bike, have enough sleep, alot of riders get killed on the road becos of dozing of on the bike. His Ducati sustained least damage and is up for sale at 10k. Ducati 916 abt 5 yrs old only. Can buy.

Shoei > Paintjob was done by Ah Koon.

Pretty good quality work, esp the way he preserved the original stickers. He actually masked up the 999 text proper, including the holes in the loop, not just take one huge rectangular piece of tape.

Aye. Do support the club. Rode up this morning with a bunch of great guys to meet Sven for lunch in Malacca.

The weather and food was good. The company was even better.

Check gear changer linkages... need to adjust a bit... I had that problem on my 998 when it's still on stock rear sets...after fiddling around with the linkages like changing angle the problem dissappears. It has to do with the first gear not fully engaged.
