Hey guys,

I am looking for a used hypermotard (preferably 796). Anyone selling?

Other bikes that I am considering is the Dorsoduro and the F800GS.

Please call me at 91789630 or email me at [email protected] if you selling, or know of a deal going around.

Cheers, and thanks in advance!!

Hey getfunk,

Have a look there, just what you're looking for: http://www.singaporebikes.com/used_bikes/1860/ducati_hypermotard_796/

there's a lot to read about clutches on the internet... go google it.

This is my point of view...

Having ridden a 996r_engine (136bhp stock)

My mate riding a 748 (95bhp)

both without slipper clutch

Sintered clutch plate works best (#19020042A, Stock item for the 998s!!!) expensive & is steel.

The standard 916/748 plates are a whole lot cheaper, works with the 748 but on the 998 it slips and the wear rate is very high. (approx 30~45% compared to the sintered) and it's made of steel.

So after running 3 sets of sintered and 1 sets of stock(916/748) it had left by basket with 2mm clearance.

i'd reckon...

use sintered plates for bikes more than 123bhp any thing less you'd get away with the standard 916 ones

After I have the slipper clutch on I ran with aluminium plates (barnett i think) so far the basket looks fine although there's slippage. about 5000km now and I'm due for a change soon.

We're not running a race team so $$$ also counts other than performance. Factor the cost of friction plates (they do sell seperate), baskets, springs, backing plates (these comes with fiction plates AFAIK). Running a slipper and standard (stock or after-market) your considerations are different when $$$ comes into the picture.

That's why I had advice folks NOT to use slipper clutches if they have no need for it. You're looking at double the running cost!

There's more to this after the $$$$ has been considered and its hard to type it all down here. Be at the marina on saturday and I'll tell you more.

Hi RR, I am a poorman and just a starbuck poser.

Not getting the slippers and will only be use the stock setup. Headache is all various comment is being read.

some say aluminium is good, some say steel is better. Some having problem with barnett some dont.

Of course, maybe will need to trial and error to know which suit me best. But though maybe if can get some good recommend ation then i may as well try that brand first.

Initally i wanted to get the barnett aluminium plates and basket for replacment. Then i read more and found the 48T EVR setup.

We are really spoilt for choices. Lol.

Hello Ducati people.

Here's my ridemate's 2011 Ducati 1198 SP.

We are from Philippines.

The SP was shipped by boat and this video explains it all.

Enjoy guys!

I learnt thru reading then trial and error then read again, try to make sense of all the info then trial again... and the cycle repeats endlessly. I'm still learning.

More specific to your post. Steel is definitely better. But I use aluminium! Becareful when you hear "better". The more informed you are the more you'll understand "better".

We know for a FACT that when Alu and steel collide and grind the former will take the hit first and be worse of. So, if you're game, try the aluminium and see if you like it. If you don't, swap it out and lose S$300. Less when you sell it. If using steel you'll probably wear out the basket at 20k km. That also depends on your riding style. Basket is also not that expensive if you're not using the slipper.

Hope this helps

Greetings to the black superbike owner whom I waved to @ SLE just now. Are you here? It was night so could not tell if he was riding an 848 or 1098/1198.

Encountered this however...
