@Han^Siam > The built quality of Akrapovic is really top notch from the past pipes I had. It really looks better than the Termigs. Only downside is they don't come with an ECU for the Ducs right?

And also, for better performance, you need to have a Power Commander installed to have a mapping due to no ECU. And I heard from Joe(Minerva) that by using exhaust with PC, it has burnt the engine before of a certain bike in track. Not too sure abt warranty aspects though... My 2cents worth...

I was just thinking, most of the slip-on are to make the exhaust more free flow. Hence maybe any brand of ecu should be able to run with different make of slip-on but maybe not 100% performance but at least 90% ba? Eg. Akra or arrow slip-on with termis ecu works fine just not 100% performance. Just some wild thought.

Most slip-ons are designed to match the stock ECUs. Stock bikes from factory run lean in order to pass emission standards. PC's job is to richen up plus able to fine-tune the whole powerband so the bike will run more efficient and the engine temp will be cooler. Termis ECU does the same job but it will richen up the whole powerband range. Causing black soot to appear on ur endcan.

Lean mixtures = Low FC. Bike throttle will be touchy and lots of back firing. Engine feels hotter. Risk of piston failures.

Rich mixtures = High FC. Smoother feel control and engine will be a lot cooler.

The main benefit of the dp ecu is the removal of the o2 sensor. With the o3 sensor running on any after market pipe, it will constantly "correct" the reading. Power commander will not remove the o2 sensor resulting in not optimal performance.

 

Hence the dp ecu required for performance tuning eg pc3 or pcv unless u go with ecus like nemesis.

The 916-998 do not have an O2, the FI system is open loop and does not correct itself based on exhaust parameters. The FI system only compensates for intake parameters, thus no learning ECU for u sir

Sry for my ignorance but the newer bikes run on 16/32 bit ecu?? Cos "self learning" ecu are 16/32 bit.
