Hi Mika14,

I am presently without a ride..:weep:

I sold my 916 to make way for a sport tourer.

but I miss the handling of sportbikes but they are not practical when it comes to touring, especially two up.

Don't suggest the ST line cos somehow the looks don't cut it for me.

Nice to know you too!

Cheers

what's the meaning of "two up"?

how much did u bought yr 916? where and is it first hand?

is the 916 series more easily available than 996/998?

is it more reliable?

i thought u sold yr 916 coz maintenance too high.

sports tourer? u can try Ducati ST4 mah. :D

Mika,

two up means riding wif a pillion..

I bought mine used for about 13k with accessories like carbon termi, carbon air box, carbon bellypan, carbon chain guard.

From Motor sales.

I wont say one model is more readily available than the other perhaps those SPS models would be harder to come by cos they are rarer. sometimes price plays a part.. My fren could not get a buyer for his 998R and sold it to a shop eventually.

Maintenance is higher than jap bikes, no doubt. that is cost of ownership.

As I have mentioned bofore, I do not like the look of the ST Series.

I also regret stepping in their shop, but they tat time take in my 2001 R1 at a very high price($16.5K)Maybe because of my bidded no.plate.

I only go to minerva to service as they r the dealer for duke. But for things like tires and brake pads can be done by other shops as might be cheaper.:cheeky:

hi james.

for me, its a lesson learnt. i bought my previous bike, which was a monster from excel. for the 999, i decided that agent was best.

hmm, sorry if i seldom talk, but i always come in to see what interesting stuff u guys have posted. maybe we'll one day meet like u guys have suggested?

Gee, with all this talk about Excel and their "service". looks like a place potential bikers should avoid, especially if one is looking for a duke!

thanks for the insight and experience with them...

ok, excel would usually quote abt 500 less then what minerva would quote you. this kinda sucks u partially into the deal.

in the end, excel would add the agreement fee, charge a higher interest and unethically charge more to your insurance. to those u dont know, minerva doesnt charge an agreement free, has a lower interest (4.75) and does no such insurance 'commision'.

so. in the end, its more or less the same. so why bother goignt o excel after all the lessons learnt? might as well minerva.

excel, still dare to blanko my cert of ins.
