hi jtzx, chain loose might be the result of chain tensioners wear off le...

which oso result the tick tick tok tok during gear changing eps from 1-2 can hear very clearly ( own situation)

if u attempt to tighten the chain by pulling wheels back and dint help much..

this might be the indicator of chain tensioner centre gone le...

anyway jus bring to ba fang to let uncle chong ride , he will advice the chain tensioner need to be change anot!

Cheers!

hey bros,

anyone happen to be using a Coocase?

I just swapped my top box, Kappa 42L to a Astra 48L case.

Apparently, it weighs a lot even if it is empty.

I used my existing rack and I mounted the baseplate that comes with the coocase.

Should I be worried about the rack breaking? lol.

The brand is "Rhino Rack".

its very normal to wear ear plugs while riding... the bike can be so loud that it poise a health problem over time... occasionally I would wear my ear plugs...

i do wear sometimes.. the strong wind on the NSHW is quite a pain.. maybe i could look for a ff helmet which can prevent all this noise?

Increasing idling - don't do it, unless you like reaching under the fuel tank every traffic light stop. Recommended not to use idling settings as 'cruise control' unless bike is having major backfiring problems and can't engine brake safely.

That's because if you're at high idle and have to wait 5 mins at traffic light lol, its wasting lots of fuel!

And on the highway for safety reasons and also to conserve mechanical braking power / brake pad life, you do need the engine braking.

Accessories weight etc... actually the reverse is true. My extra wide sidebox mountings absorb all the vibration leaving mine feeling like a 2 stroke when moving. More weight = suspension absorbs more bumps (strange but it's true).

regards to using vpower to reduce vibration...yeah it helps ...:thumb:but only when the tank just filled.its a joy to cruise with so little throttle....then when it's almost going to reach reserve, the vibration is back...not that bad but still...

Any idea what causes a sound like static when revving when in gear?

Sound disappears when engine brake or when put to neutral.

Reving when in neutral NO such sound though.

Never encounter a situation like this before, anyone can enlighten?

Encounted this last night during test ride.

Encountered that on cold morning starts where the right footrest guard vibrates in tune with the engine revs. Poking it gently changes the resonance frequency - no vibration. Minor "I just woke up don't disturb me" thing.

Is yours a similar vibration? Try poking at things until the vibration stops and you know it's the part in question.

I also suspected it's something loose, I thought it might be the keys, so held on to the keys with 1 hand while in the carpark.

Then pressed onto the chrome covers all 4 of them. Sound still on. No idea what it is.

Later checked the exhaust. No white smoke so should be ok. If chain tensioner loose even when not in gear also got that sound one right?

My friend bought the bike, despite the sound, he says it handles just fine.

Guess it's nothing to worry about.

But now my bike sounds different. :faint:

Maybe tensioner loose. :(

If I replace the tensioner it's around $60 right?

But how long does it take?

Will it have to be top overhaul to change?

Dear experts,

i am a newbie, and just bought a 9 year old phantom ta200.

The bike has been experiencing constant back-fire with every throttle closing. So far i have approached two different mechanics, and they say the following.

1. popular mechanic in SBF - tried to tune the carburettor but to no effect. the back-fire was still there. So he said that a washer inside needs to be replaced and that he will call me once he gets the spare part. This was 4 days ago and i didnt get any response even after sms'ing him. so i approached mechanic two...

2. He says that there is an air-pump which feeds the air to the carburettor? i don't know. But he says that the air-pump has failed and needs replacement. and that it may cost around 80 bucks. This guy is confident that changing it to a new air pump will definitely resolve the issue.

my questions are as follows-

1. Is there an air-pump in the phantom ta200?

2. Is there another reason why the engine may back-fire?

3. what will be the normal cost of an air-pump?

Thanks and i appreciate your help.

from my understanding.. backfire = time to wash and tune your curb..

my phantom used to back fire... but now i haven't hear it for some time alrdy... if u dont mind, just bring it down to planet and let ah chong check... so far i only trust him, and i believe he is our most trusted mech here... he will not change what he feel is unnecessary and if u lucky enuff he might jus fix for u w/t replacing anything at all

What is refering to as the air pump could be the diaphragm located somewhere under the fuel tank. Bring it to ah chong@planet. He will tell you the same thing

Its the diaphragm. $80 is reasonable.

Hi, how do we go about adjusting the fuel/air mixture of a TA200? did a ride to Kulai on saturday night, rode between 90kmh n 110kmh, bike vibrated quite a bit, and came across one of the threads that said it could be the fuel air mixture is too rich, is the adjustment of the fuel/air mix via the choke knob? The bike is an 8 yr old TA200.

Thanks in advance!
