read it to understand why price does not determine the effectiveness of the helmet. A 1000 shoei full face may not be necessarily better than a 200 dollar full face. but of course by all means, buy what you can afford and what you desire, i personally would prefer at least a cheap flip up or full face. for those who considering upgrading your head protection, go ahboy look for those 100 odd dollar fullface/flipups.

well, doesnt matter if its a car, bike, lorry, bus or which ever.

its a machine that has no life until we started it up.

& machine is being controlled by us. so, literally, arent we are responsible for what we are doing? no?

its still boils dwn to hw the user end handles it..

eh... seems like going off topic liao...

lets get back to the topic instead bah... :thumb:

if really got cash to burn, can buy ARAI, AND other protective gears, carry on.

I dun understand y some riders can spend $800 on a ff, den no glove, no armor etc :faint:

if i have $800 to burn on a helmet, i rather use that $800 to get another ff + armor jacket + glove + what not (personal insurance - $40 yearly?).

sg have improved greatly from the olden days of no helmet, "bo zheng hu" to now, with at least a open face. moving on, i think we will see more ff and other what not being highly recommended.

nice read. :thumb:

so i gather snell = hardest liner, dot = softest liner.

which seems to suggest snell means protect against hard objects (think poking) while dot means ensure ur brain dun become juice.

Back to the topic.

Yes. Those el-cheapo helmets are not as good as more reputable ones like Shoei or Arai.

But then again, any open face helmet (no matter what brand) still offers less protection than a decent flip or full face.

Simple as that.

yup, & i 2nd that.

Its not a problem of whether we can control our machine or not. its the other idiot who cannot control his and get us involved.

Sorry for being off topic here.

And its because of those idiots.. we should always prepare for the worst.

yup. no matter hw becareful we're, there's bound to have jokers otr..

I have mfizz 3/4 helmet.

Its the best i.m.o from LAB cos its lightweight (nearer to 1kg)

Ive checked out their yohe, and MHR likes but most have something

I do not like. Its heavier, the air vent not so good; this u must pluck out

the liner to see the air path entry and exit. Also yohe got few variation

only 1 is lightweight but the cusion wear liao make ur hair top centre

to buldge (some1 wearing it told me that)

Felt the same with my FF too, Put on FF felt that my vision become very limited. Same feeling as when u are in a car, really kill joy for me.

seems like more have to be done to educate our ryders on proper riding gears OTR.

cheap options helmet does provide certain level of protection, so long we doesn't push it beyond that threshold it should provide maximum protection.

many has shared their experiences, they live to tell us all... we should heed their advise. peace.

for me, i just like how Arai fits my head.. be it open or full face..

i now have the Arai hair..

most of them that are on the shelves of SG are snell and dot approved regardless of brands.. i never believe in PSB approval..

one fo the more important things to note when buying a helmet is also the size.. it must fit snugly on your head..

too tight = headache..

too loose = the strap might be the one that cost your life..

Hey if u have the same helmet can buy extra inner liner from LAB

I bought extra at $5 each, damn nice to have fresh helmet everytime

u put it on.

Also the liner can be sewn with lines all the way from front to back

so when u travel, can actually feel the heat moving off back of helmet.

Super super best lightweight and cooling helmet :thumb:

Extra liner? U meant the replace cushion or EVO brand head liner( cover hair )?

Now tight lo. My spec cant even wear. haha.. But tight n comfort lo.. Just my hair a bit long, so hair at the back fly like superman. lol..

I got the head liner for free cuz i bought 2 at the same time. Like it n get one for pillion. lol.. Make myself too many helmets now..

Yes. It's light like AGV Blade. :thumb:

PSB stickers are not supposed to be able to be peeled off without leaving the sticky part still on the helmet right? My friend's helmet from Ah Boy showed me his "PSB sticker" and it was half peeled off (like normal sticker kena water that kind), and faded. So I suspect Ah Boy doesn't test all the helmets he claim to be "PSB-approved" but instead prints his own "PSB approved" stickers.

I think one of the strictest testing standard is by far Snell?

Maybe this post can help you guys determine which helmets are really good for protection. It's a list of Snell-approved helmets.

Certified Helmets for the M2005 --> http://www.smf.org/certlist/std_M2005

And one for the M2010 (stricter) --> http://www.smf.org/certlist/std_M2010

U'll be surprised. MHR is on the 2005 list, but none of Nolan's models are on either of the lists.

Very Interesting "Dig"

I think my head is worth MORE than what L.A.B can offer. And about the PSB stickers, its really useless, IMHO.

hi guys,i started wear ah boy nova helmets long time ago, then up graded to arai open face.stopped riding n now ,back riding again.

wondered should i get arai again?kinda feel is really ex now?or just thing in between like agv, nolan etc which is priced in the middle?but i reali dun wan to go back to ah boy helmets again.

remember a frd slipping his head on the sandy grounds off-road a few metres and that burnt a hole on his arai OW.

had my ah boy nova helmet removed paint and saw a kind of slippery plastic as the material of the helmet shell.
