Hi, I am a newbie which my 2B TP date coming 2 weeks. I'm getting my Phantom this coming Monday. Since my bike is gg to idle at the parking lot for 2 weeks, thinking to do some touch up on it. Any shop recommendation for checking services and painting a new color to my bike? This thread starts from 2009 and info getting lesser as Phantom getting older, wonder still much Phantom lover out there or just treat as transport :)

Any chance your new phantom is going to ah chong to spray red color?

If you are the owner of the soon-to-be red phantom, then you probably know I love my phantom as well, although it is in fact my "choiced" only mode of transport.

Usually if I am replacing something, I will take pictures of the old setup before taking apart and replace. May I suggest you do likewise instead of us providing the info. It will prevent misunderstandings and heartache just in case of wrong info provided by us as well.

my phantom is in a bad physical shape...(some rust, dull colours, worn out pegs, lights etc... is there any place I can go for thorough cosmetic refurbishment? If anyone here wanna take it up as a project(paid), let me know.. can whatsapp me at 98730424

Depends on your budget.

Even a simple replacement of original parts may do wonders for your bike. Here's some of my suggestion

1. Chrome Side garnish 1 pair ($35 buy at Ban Hoe Leong Jalan Besar Complex)

2. Chrome Speedo Cover 1 unit ($35 buy at Ban Hoe Leong Jalan Besar Complex)

3. Chrome lining (Plastic trimming) on fuel tank and edge of Speedo Cover. ($20 at Aunty Shop Ubi, or you can buy from LAB and DIY)

4. Spray tank and fenders ($280 single color HL Cycles)

5. Decal tank (at least $50 for simple cover without design; JuzzWheelz Bukit Merah aka Alexandra Village)

Or if you really want a customized look, ride to Aunty Shop and swim in the sea of poison. Be prepared to spend at least a few hundreds to get the look you want.

Hi matthias76,

You mentioned that you had done forward control at Auntie shop in Ubi, will it pass inspection?

I have intention of doing it too cos my leg is almost at 90degrees and it's tiring during long ride...

Do you have a picture of the installed forward control? Thanks in advance..

Backfiring could also be due to this part - Air Suction Valve. Cost around $65 to $80 to replace. But Gen 1 seemed to be very affected by this problem. My old Gen 1 changed once and was ok for a while, then it came back again.

Surging could also be due to your riding style/ clutch cable. 'Throwing' clutch or clutch cable worn (uneven lengthening) causes your clutch to be released prematurely hence a sudden "too fast too furious" surge forward.

1. Raised clips meaning higher risers? Becareful of the heght to raise as weel as the handlebars. Your clutch/ fuel throttle line, brake line/hoses may not be long enough or could be tensioned too much. Shouldn't be a problem if you send to shop to do, but if you DIY, these are things to look out for.

2. A "mini-skirt" fender and mudguard looks nice but beware of upward spray of water. I broke my fender once and water was literally spraying upwards and backward towards me.

3. Repair dents not so sure if anyone still do this. If you find a service, do share with the rest of us. Otherwise, maybe cheaper to just get a better condition one from scrapyard. Tian Lei has one to sell, dunno whether he has sold it.

4. Forward control is possible. Mine is a forward control. Fabricated at Aunty Shop Ubi. Total damage about $380, IIRC.

Went through 2 inspection already.

Pictures not really available. Cos I don't really like to publish my pictures online. And also my customization might not suit you also. Bring your bike down to Aunty@Ubi and find the best fit for yourself. :)

Anyone knows how to change handlebar? I saw online looks possible to diy. But I'm afraid it might be different for phantom. Looking to install clip on or clubman bars. And is it possible to bring my bike and the bar to a shop and get them to fix it up? If yes, how much would it cost for workmanship

Thank! Any idea what's the address and how much would it cost?

61 Lengkok Bahru

He should have a selection, and if not, he has resources to indent or custom make

I bought a straight handlebar from him previously but I can't quite recall the price.

If you go down tell him that you were recommended by the guy who took a phantom to krabi and back!
