Hi all... Been riding a sports bike for most of my riding years and this is the first time i got a bike tat shaft driven. I have friends who tell me that hard acceleration might cause the the shaft to break but there are other who tell me that shaft driven bike can accelerate just as fast as a normal bike.

So do the acceleration speed affects?

Also i just got a mid 07 ST.. 22K OTR ok? anyway my insurance itself is 1.5k already... too young a rider.. :p

Well Dude....you got not a bad deal for your bike. As for insurance, there no running away for young bikers (boh pien).

Regarding accelerating bike with shaft. I don't see any problem from my experience. It still can accelerate as well as any other bikes. Just the difference is that bikes with chain have better pick ups than bikes with shaft. But seems like in latest technology, everything now seems similar.

Cars are running on shaft as well. So, they have no problem accelerate too. But still those people might have bad experience before. So maybe I may be right or I may be wrong. And they too could be right and could be wrong. Ask around more if you like to know further.

PM me if you like to have a cup of coffee together. I just got myself an ST too. Cheers!!

Thanks for the advice... wonder when you guys move off at 1st gear will hear "kok" sound??? every time I stop and when moving off will hear this "kok" sound and once into other gear won't hear it any more, ask bike shop and they told me is normal for shaft driven bike cos of there is a delay un-like chain driven bike...

alsol when I turn my handle from left to right and right to left, the handle will like stuck on the center ( Stay stright ahead), bike shop also told me is not the steering cone gone but rather ST rider like to tighten the handle bar so it will stay stright and when at high speed it will not cos tank slap...

Really wonder izzit like dat leh... BTW bike shop as in the shop where I got my bike from and he did promise me 3 months warrenty...

hi guys,

i`m very interested to get a Tourer bike too..

and all the while the STX had been my 1st choice.

recently i went to the bike shop, it`s still ard 25k and 28otr

i`ve been considering buying the bike super soon.

but i`ve seen the GTR 1400 recently,

so i`m in a dilemma in both choices,

Hi fellow ST riders...I'm just wondering if anyone here would be going for the 3 Nations Charity Ride this year in October? I'll be joining my frens and will be leaving earlier...Hope to see you guys in Koh Samui!

Anyway, as this is my 1st ride so far...is there anything I should be aware of? What things to bring e.g. tyre kit, extra rectifier??? etc....There's this talk about bringing extra rectifier for touring trip...even if spoilt I doubt I know how to replace it man...I'd just cry and wait for help along the highway I suppose... :p

Life is a journey...keep on walking
