Hello Brothers,

I guess it is good to have the voltmeter to monitor the "condition" of your Rectifier. Once you see the voltmeter not coming up.....Good luck... Most likely you need a replacement OR later you might not be able to start your bike liao..... esp. when you are touring with your friends...I think it is good to have Voltmeter (Esp. the "older" ST1100)

It's also a good practice to have the bike checks before a trip.

:)

Longer trips la that is.

Anyway, unlike many of the newer bikes... ST is a carb engine... so that means, if you lush it fast and hard enough... you can still start it.

But the "newer" STX13... good luck.

It's usually not the bike, Check the Biker

As for ST.....If the Rectifier is down, your electrical system is also down...once your battery power is drain flat.....the engine will also shutdown..... Have and ever seen a ST rider kana before.

What we do is that....half way interchange battery with another ST.... Let your friend's bike charge the battery for you..... If not... another Good Luck...hehe

I've never done this repair thing before but trawling through this thread - i would guess that you could buy the parts of FJT (hmm I wonder if Chong Aik has it) or go to Gopa or other ST11 comfortable mechanics to get this done. Hope this helps.

Simple repairs you can have purchase at FJT or Eversuccess and have it change yourself. Alternatively, spend on minor servicing at those workshop pple mention and see the result yourself. Choose the workshop you most comfy with.

I personally feel its another 'luxury' or 'decorative' gadget unless it comes stock originally from Honda factory with the bike.

i.e. the PY model. this model its wire harness specially manufactured to take additional gadgets/accessories for Police duties OTR, therefore an original voltmeter comes with it to monitor its energy output(if needed), sufficiently enough reaction time for owner to take precaution if the energy level ran low.

maintaining a healty battery life will minimise the chances of down rectifier. say if u r not riding ur bike as often, its better u have ur battery check on a regular basis & charge up if required before u leave town. even if u r a daily city-town-city user there r also chances of insufficient charging. a constant level of higher rpm & ride duration r required to fill up to a healthy battery.

like joepele said, its good to have a good practice to have ur bike checked before riding out, it'll prevent unforeseen downtime during rides.

Punctured Tire. I got a punctured front tire last night while on AYE. Tried to fix with the self inflating can foam but leaked out. Anyone with better suggestion? I had to call the tow truck in the end.

1) Front - 110/80 ; Rear - 160/70

Model equipped with CBS/ABS/TCS >> Front 120/70 ; Rear - 160/70

No tyre is the best...To each his own...It's subjective.

2) Servicing also up to you...average about 5000km...Oil filter every alternate engine oil change...brakes etc depends on your usage..check with mechanic.

3) Fuel consumption also depends...mine is about 17-19km per litre...Riding style dependent.

4) Top speed achieved on my ST1100Y model is 220km/hr outside Singapore, or as high a speed as your guts can take...:) ..Caution: Speeding kills!

Ideal speed is maybe cruising at about 80-100km on Singapore road.
