Wow! Tiring! Ok managed to detach the old header after much ado. Header number 1 and 4 is easy to unscrew, ran into some problems with number 2 and 3 due to the space constraint caused by the chassis and radiator blocking the way. Detached the radiator and managed to squeeze the tool in.

 

Btw Ah Pek, I sanded the header down till the metal, but didn't apply any high-temp primer cos I couldn't get hold of one. So I just sprayed about 7 coatings of RJ high-temp black spray! If it rusts, then gotta repeat the process liao.

There were metal gaskets in between the header and exhaust port, but they looked fine, so I'd rather not disturb them. No more irritating "ziiiiiing" from the header!

The "ziiiiing" sound actually comes from that part of the header. Mechanics and Ah Pek advised me to bring it to a metal workshop, but the cost wouldn't be that cheap though. Suspected the silencer rods inside is detached, thus it zings at moderate exhaust flow, but stabilises at high exhaust flow.

Anyone keen on an old rusty Ver S exhaust to do your garage modifications? Maybe remove the silencer and make it a thru-thru.

jam is 1 think speed cut is another thing .. speed cut will like u hit 190 den ur bike engine will b turn off .. jam i duno wat problem liao unless same as my old bike valve too much carbon but 4t bike i nt sure .. backfire may help bah ..

Powercut is like it slows down to 70km only. U cannot go more than 7k rpm. Then if u still pushing it, ur engine will sound like "PFFT PFFT PFFT" hehe.

oh... okie. but i dun trust his stuffs.. you know... mine was bought from a distrubutor in SG... Written MADE IN USA that kind... so it set me back quite a bit of $$$. too bad i din save the box...

k question. i started my bike as usual today. warmed up for a few minutes and all. but when i kicked down to first gear, the engine died. clutch was in, sidestand was up. died just like that. anyone experienced before?

Yes...does happened once in a awhile and unknowingly. Guess its one of those imperfection creation of god...LOL!

 

My onlyguess is that its simply a 'glitch' as such that at that particular instant..there is jsut no fuel or spark for combustion..and can be due to anyhing from your clutch slightly timely too soon in release (without you knowning) or just the idle for that moment ain't right. Afterall, the bike did start and I guess its ok..in short..just one of those thing we "unknowingly don't know"...LOL!

I heard of this before and indeed interesting. But how does it actually works with fuel on the rust? All the while I tot its a "Myth" or a monkey see monkey do thingy without fact basis.

 

In the past, we use to have the tank internally sand blasted and specially coated with some sort of chemical treatment related to zinc galvanisation much like cold galvanising underground fuel tank storage. A very expensive process that ppl felt better off buying a new tank instead.

 

From what I understand about Mothballs..consisted primarily of dichlorobenzene which have a strong, pungent odor and oso has Camphor, an insect repellent.

 

The idea with both chemicals is to kill with the fumes by sublimate, meaning they transition from a solid straight to a gas. The gas is toxic to the moths.

 

Mothballs have also been found to be a carcinogen that is a cancer-causing agent.

I never tried it before. Except using Ah Pek's X-1R and Green Oil only.
