Hu8h?...eo never drop in level one for S4 unless its damn torok type of eo u using. How do you check your level? Did you check it with ur bike level on both wheels...on side stand cannot lah.

Haha.. i think i know why liao.. Fundamental error.. I measure it on SIDE STAND.. DUH. :slapforehead:

because there was oil leaking out from the rubber gasket, so was a bit paranoid about the E.O level. can prepare some in case really need to top up?

Also, lately there has been this sticky substance flowing down from the area where the battery is. clear/yellowish sticky stuff. donlt know what that is. show you tomorrow. hope is nothing too serious.

Ha...x3!..on side stand right?..well, at least you don't top up..there was two person taht came to me did that and they came to me because the bike was underpower and sluggish. The reason was they had 4 litre after their top up..and on side stand..still cannot see the eo..:D

Ok..can prepare a litre for you.

As for the yellow thick sticky gel glue like thingy..its epoxy melting from your CDI unit. This is due to heat generate inbetween in the CDI and environmental influence of hot weather. Its okay and would not damage your CDI as I believe the epoxy was used to protect component design copying. Careful when you have to remove them..its sticky and hard to clean off..have to use benzine (Ronson Liquid fuel lighter) agent.

bRos can enlighten me how to know if ur carb is running too rich or lean???

Have to take off the four spark plug and check the core and electrode colour status...

1) Dry rusty brownish - Right

2) Blackish - Rich

3) Whitish - Lean

yo ahpek, here's a question hope you can shed some light on the matter. my s4 when cold start, super fast will crank (almost instantaneous) and engine fire up. but if warm start, have to crank for a little bit longer before engine starts.

any idea why this is so? i kinda figured warm start should be easier than cold start but for my bike it's the other way ard.

thanks in advance.

4got what version of S4 you have but if its Vtec..its common. Seem to me that its inherent on Vtec S4 only een Vtec 3 being the latest of the carbs version of S4 Vtec series. Could be a design issue in the carbs.

You are right about it suposing easlier to start when bike is warm but I think it could be the heat from the engine with relation to inlet coupling of the carbs..such that the fuel in the carbs are vaporised (less fuel in tyhe carn reservoir) and vaccumm is form thus takes a longer crank to suck in the fuel into the chamber.

When you crank..the vaccumm tubei working and pumping more fuel into the carbs actually thus providing nore fuel to get suck into the chamber. This is just a wild guess. However, this is never the case with non Vtec S4. o_O

My s4 is non vtec. What version, I also don't know. Its got a weird meter and a main stand, and polished cams at the engine side, but no vtec, but using vtec tank and fairings on an unknown chassis. hahaha! Got time I meet up with you lah, maybe after hari raya...

Are PB1s still considered as "Good Buy"? There are a lot of PB1s and Version Ss imported here in the P.I., for some reason the SF has been one of the top selling BBs ever sold here. Practically almost everywhere you go, you'll see one. I'm planning on getting an SF for myself, either a PB1 or if budget permits a Version S.

Where in Singapore can you buy parts for the PB1/V-S? I have a friend who is working there, I might give her a call once I've already purchased the bike. Are parts cheaper there? Thanks.

Firstly welcome to SBF. As with any bikes my friend, it is never the bike itself which conclude whether it's a good buy (unless it's a brand new bike)

How the bike has been maintained over the years, how the owner treated the bike. All adds to this

Generally SF's are solid bikes. But it still needs to be taken care of. If I were you, I wouldn't be deciding between a PB1 and Ver S. Ill choose a well maintained bike, might it be a PB1 or Ver S.

As for parts, they do sell it here. But what parts are you looking for?

Original or Aftermarket.

Thanks M_Heart. I understand, a SF is still an SF. Deciding factor should be the state of the bike. I'm planning on getting one sometime at the end of this year or early next year, as I am still in the process of hunting a good / well maintained one and learning about basic technical stuffs, and of course I'm still saving a few more moooolaahhs for maintenance and / or bling. :D

RE: Parts, I might have to get back to you on that one. Because I haven't figured out what to buy yet. hehe. I'm just asking in what parts of Singapore can you usually purchase low priced parts? Thanks.

Have a nice day.

Well over here SFs can be modified easily, esp the outlook. But as for anything to do with interior I suggest stick to original parts. And here orig parts are costly too.

As for the bling factor. They can be done quite inexpensively. Eg, shrouds, handlebars, headlights, spec 3 tail etc.

supp mate.

pardon me, but why PB1 and Ver S are your top choices instead of Vtec versions of SF?

not challenging u, but would like to hear from a non vtec point of view!

btw, ahpek's grounding V bling bling. +1 bling factor to my bike hahah

There is no replacement for displacement, except for Ah Seng
