What is the sympton of the bike when carburetor need to be service?

 

Is there a time frame we need to service our carb?

 

There is no such thing as "carbs servicing" in the first place..never seen in in a manual. But if ur rev meter needle gets jumpy or feel ur ride is sluggishly jerky or don't idle well at all..it's likely caused by gummy residues from lay up fuel clogging your main jet. No need to open carbs..using a premixed carbs cleansing agent mixing into ur fuel tank would do a decent job of clearing any blocking. However if you wanna clean more..can do a carb wash by using carbs cleaner sprayed into each carbs inlet. This way..don't have to waste time (like half a day or more) opening carbs and risk damaging delicate components inside and having to do carbs synchronisation as you do not disturb the original setting.

Hi, just bought myself a S4 version S. I had previously owned PB1 and Version R before. I simply love Super 4

 

Anyway I tried searching but couldn't find real answer. The question is- Can Version S be fitted with main stand. I know the answer is Yes, but I would like to know where and how... also roughly how much it will cost. I love PB1 with main stand and would like version S to have 1 as well, easy to do everything when on main stand.

 

Another question is I want to raise the handle bar height by 2-3". I see that Phantom handle bar might do the job but quickly realise that probably I would need longer front brake hose, clutch cable, trottle cable. Anyone done this before and can advise which shop does this? I am trying to get a more upright riding position... me old already lah need a more relax posture.

VEr S can put mainstand? as far as I know...it cant due to the height n design. Unless i'm outdated. hahaha

Ah Peh! my bike got worse by the days! Now at Gear 1, clutch in, my bike can move! Should i tighten the clutch cable?

Hi, I would like to know whether it is a good idea to do just the synchronisation of the carbs without opening and cleaning it(like most motodiam ask to do)?? I plan to do synchronisation as my idling is not good(jerky) when warming up in the morning and feels sluggish when riding. I've already tried the stp cleaner and found it more or less same. Sparkplug wise should be ok laa, less than 6k old.

Ok handle bar solved... Installing a CBF handle bar so very high tml collecting my bike and test out the new handle bar.

 

As for main stand. ah pei thanks for the recommendation but I believe those shop only sell the stand for spec 2 & 3. Version s by itself can not install main stand due to it exhaust and nor much the height. I know ppl mod before to put in a main stand, so question is where, which shop does it and how much. So would really appreciate some advice from whoever have done it or know of some one who have done it before.

My bike shop recommend Fz150i handlebars. It's a little higher than what I have now and not any wider when I placed it against my current bars.

Hi all,

 

Just wondering have you all encounter this problem where your speedometer suddenly drop to 0 while riding half way.

After carry on riding for a while it will return to normal. When it drop to 0, I can feel a drop in engine power.

Mohsen, that one not power cut la. I think it's wiring issue. I kena once before. But my case was worst. RPM reach 5 only no more power. Then I went to Ah Fook, he did some re-wiring and everything was back to normal. But it might also be due to something else. Try trouble shooting.

ah pek.. sian.. after putting the fuel system cleaner that u help me wif, my bike still stalled.. don know why everytime after while can start up but the engine jus sounds so weak like nt fully warmup even though bike ridden for quite a dist liao

What about ur spark plug..when was it last change?

tts fast!!jus changed last than 2000 km... air filter also washed at the same time..since ah pek u were talking bout SP, could it be SP cap/wire prob??

Basically the engine is starved off fuel by carbs (did u service it recently) or weak sparks which is caused by under spec delivery of electrical to the spark plug cable or perhaps the ignition coils. The possiblities is debatable. I would think it better for u to have ur battery changed first as I have anaysle its weak capability to hold charge (high resistance value..above 10 remember?) though your magneto coil charging is up to spec..then we see how to preceed further.

yup.. thank you ah pek for the advise..nope.. i did nt service my carb recently but i did buy the fuel system cleaner which also wash the carb one ard 5k km ago (one bottle pour into the full fuel tank).. the brand i bought was one of the brand u recommended but i couldnt rem the bra .. my last service of carb was done at unique , 20k to 23k km ago...

 

i also thought of changing my battery liao.. cos today i on my bike, the needle swipe twice.. i will buy those normal yuasa batt first.. will update u again =)
