I rode my TA200 day and night along with a couple other folks and today there was yet another all day out session... and I noted I haven't refuelled for an ungodly long period of time.

I checked my diary and realised my last fuel stop was almost 500km ago. The fuel tank was at a very low level (Phantom tank cover vibrates if at low level) and I switched to reserve just over the 500km mark.

Couple of notes here: I keep receipts for all my refuels, and update my diary immediately. For the past week I only stopped at petrol stations to use the toilets and buy drinks (must not forget to refuel the rider, remember?)

That's 9 litres of petrol for 500km which is 55km/l... from a Phantom. That's surprising because I ride pretty normally, but avoiding running over 90kph on the e-ways. Whomever rebuilt this very old banger for me has a few tricks up his sleeve that nobody knows about.

Or it's just a case of the 'magical fuel penguins'...

Don't steal my signature. At least if you wanna display, at least quote that its from me la!

Anyway, no suprise there. I ever hit 57km/l on my YBR first time i bought it. But i was averaging 45-55km/h that time. First time got bike mah, then dangerous, then ride super slow worse than uncle.

My magic fuel penguins are overworked in the sweatshop of my fuel tank when i open throttle to full blast all the time...

Think those penguins already floating facedown in the fuel already... :cheeky:

Hi Kalyan , how do you manage 55km/l from your phantom? Mind sharing what stuff you rebuilt?

My phantom avg 42-44 , and my max was only 46.

The trick is to ride slow. Really slow. Change gears early. Go to the left lane and take your time to pick up. Confirm you see your fuel efficiency shoot up.

One tank does not define the usual FC of a bike.

Given that your reported FC for a TA200 is easily 10km/l higher than the usual population, Something must have gone wrong with the calculations. Take another 10 full tank refills & see if it consistently stays at 55km/l.

:btw: I am skeptical because I have heard this story before, a rider reports some ungodly FC (with a single tank) and raves about it online, only to report later that his brother took his bike out for a spin and filled petrol without his knowledge. I'm not saying this is your case, but the data point you are reporting definitely sounds like an outlier to me.

One data point does not make a case.

maybe some sicko added fuel to your bike! As you know there are sickos who siphon petrol via your fuel line, i'm sure there are equally sick pple who do the opposite and get a real kick out of it! MFP? its snakeoil! lol

I wouldn't mind this kinda sicko though. The more the merrier. Anyway, i also don't understand what is the point TS is trying to make.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

I don't think he was trying to put a point across. More like sharing the joy of discovering the excellent fuel efficiency he's experiencing.

he's trying to tell us magical fuel penguin exists, and that we should do more good in this life so they will be willing to enter our fueltanks.

Which fuel octane do you use? Also did the previous rider put fuel catalyst such as Broquet? I'm asking 'cos when I got my Shadow Aero, it was already 26km/l. Even after regular maintenance and adjusting the idling knob, I've had 29km/l before. Sadly I had to readjust the idling knob back to higher rpm so that the bike won't stall during cold starts. My Shadow Aero is a 745cc, btw. So far best fuel consumption among Class 2 bikes.

Does broquet really work?

Yes it will.

It also adds another 20km/hr to ur top speed.

Best of all, no need to pay ERP charges anymore !

It might actually make your bike do 0-100km/h in 3 seconds too :thumb:
