Well, from wad i figure is that, for bikes that are about 10 yrs old or so there is no actual need to pump 98 cos if (i said if) i'm not wrong, 10 yrs ago 98 not out yet......so its quite safe to pump 95 wif no worries .....if u wan performance of course i suggest u carry on wif sg v-power.....

Check your manual online what is the minimum octane required for your bike, bmw r100r pre-95 recommended 90, Honda Integra Type R recommend 98 and above.

Actually, what above those bikes before unlead petrol surface? Saw FA plate bike RXK topping up 92 and his (my friend) , and this bike never fails him, he use it everyday, never wash, never service, just top up petrol & 2T oil. That's what i call superbike.

JB V-Power.:smile:

Guess which word had this meaning.

1. Any code or set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another, esp. an unwritten code of sexual behavior permitting men more freedom than women.

2. A set of principles permitting greater opportunity or liberty to one than to another, especially the granting of greater sexual freedom to men than to women.

3. A set of principles establishing different provisions for one group than another; also, specifically, allowing men more sexual freedom than women.

I tried pumping 95 twice. One is Caltex Silver, the other Shell 95. On both occassion, I pumped about 4 litres when my bike is in reserve mode, ~3litres left of 97/98 petrol. Then i noticed each time if my bike hit above 100 degrees, etc in a jam, I can smell a slight burning smell. Happen twice, each with Caltex, and Shell. When I pump M'sia 97 or S'pore 98, no funny smell detected. Why ah?

i am also keen to hear the effects of lower RONS (95 or lower) on class 2 performance bike...

personally tried twice, observations are:

1. more bike vibration at low RPM

2. lower power and engine less responsive (cwhen compared at the same RPM).

if i pumped in SG, i'll go for Esso 95. yes i do experience less power actually (dunno if it's a mental thinggie), but to be honest i felt the engine running smoother after a while. maybe because mine is old model tt's why runs better on 95? carb model R6.

so you guys still pump the same brand/octane between 2004(first post) till now? or have already downgraded?

i from v.power downgrade to 98 then downgrade to 95.

sometimes see the price hike, feel like downgrading to 92, since my bike manual says 91 and above can liao.

M'sia V POWDER is RON97.... Sg one is RON98.... octane difference by 1... :smile:

If I am not wrong JB RON97 is not the same as SG RON98, different countries have different ratings. In some country V power is RON100, in others its RON96.

If in SG i pump esso 98 lor . if in jb Mostly mobil F1 , or vpower nia.

Used to go with Shell 98 but changed to Shell 95 now. V Power is just 98 with some "cleaning agents" but I'll pump this once in a while (every 3 months or so).

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]
