Yo peeps.

I'm facing this problem recently; my bike (version S) can start and engine will rev as per normal. Then about 1 min later or so, the engine gradually dies down and stall. As if it ran out of petrol. So since then, I pull throttle when it's dying down, or use the choke to start and let the engine continue running.

Last time, I was able to start engine without the choke, even if the engine was cold (for instance, one week of not warming up my bike).

I suspect it's the caburetor, which needs tuning, I think. But is it possible that the air filter could be the issue?

Carburretor service is ex man. Especially when there are parts that needs replacement.

if u play pick up, it will suck more. if u open vtec it will suck more..throttle control is important if u wanna get the best FC.

Hi All,

What are the options we have for Carbs. i have a 1998 SuperFour CB400F3V, I am going to be fitting pod filters and exhaust, I know I need to rejet but what are the options for differents carbs?

I have been able to find

MIKUNI TMR-MJN32 (Yoshimura website)

MIKUNI TMR32 (Yoshimura website)

I also understand we can use GSXR400 carbs, any ideas which ones?

do anyone advise which is the best way to go?

Cheers

It's possible but don't do that. VTEC 1 has vtec. Has an extra hose if im not wrong. Ver S carbs doesnt have this.

I got a GSXR400 carb today, supposedly it'll give me more horse power but they're a real dog to keep tuned. I've also got a problem that there's 5mm difference in the diameter so I either need to modify the carb or the rubbers?

i am not sure of a gsxr400 carb but based on ur problem, u might have to modify the air intake manifold

well i did read all 3 pages of this thread b4 posting my qn as i only found the following posts which comes closest to the ans im seeking for or did i miss sumting out?

in the end replaced 4 needle and 2 main jet things. not sure what are they. 1 of the needle is already broken. and apparently previous owner changed them before. 2 needle was "35" and the other 2 was "38". the mechanic changed all 4 needles to "38". and the 2 main jet was changed from "102" to "105". Also replaced some torn o-rings, and did a cleaning and tuning of carb. Total cost $230

i think its normal for 2 needle - "35" and the other 2 - "38". mine are of those sizes too.
Guys.. izit true that spec 3 main jets theres 2 different size in carb..its like 2 jets 0.5 and another 2 1.0???
none of the figures above was confirmed as stock sizes so hence my qn :cheeky:

Guys, my spec1 has mini backfires when engine braking. Is it good? And when my bike almost hits reserve, it will lose power at a certain point of time. Meaning to say that when i pull the throttle, its as though like u off the engine while moving and even the exhaust sound change. Any idea whats the prob?

send it to your workshop good heaven.

check your exhaust headers! quickly weld the hole or change the exhaust round ring gaskets! it's fine to hear the sound as i've been riding with it for the longest time until i welded it back one month back. :p

backfire might be due to air/fuel ratio incorrect..
