Hello fellow members on sgbike forum,

I'm a new member to this forum as well as a new rider on the street(soon). As of now i'm taking my 2B and currently in progress of 70% of the course (now waiting for TP and clearing the remaining prac lessons only). I believe like many of the fellow riders here, we take up 2B is because of a special bike which we fancy, to some it might be super4 or SP etc.

As for myself, i'm very fond and attracted to Vespa, the features and appearance of it. Hence, against all odds, i took up 2B with a motivation of riding it on the road as soon as i pass my TP. However, unlike friends around most people, there're not much riders and definitely no Vespa rider friends. Hence, acquiring the information about the steps to own a vespa is somewhat a tedious process for me to find out. I've been reading through threads and all but still i don't understand certain aspects.

Thus, I intend to set up a official thread JUST for new vespa riders who wants to own a vespa but had no idea on the process and procedures.

This thread, hopefully after some advice from you fellow vespa riders, will serve as a guide to any future Vespa enthusiast.

To begin with, I'd like to ask what are the stuffs we need to pay other than the price of the bike,

i know some are insurance, road tax and etc. I would really appreciate if someone gives me a complete breakdown of what are the different stuffs new riders have to pay in order to ride on the road, with simple explanation would be awesome.

Next, as of myself i'm into Vespa Sprint, thus, do you guys have any idea on where can i buy 2nd hand vespa and REPAINT it at a paint shop? Any nice shops?

In addition, in considerations for those who prefers first hand new auto vespa, where can we find those shops and the different installments, package they offers.

I really thank you if you took the time to read this through and reply to all those doubts i have. One day if i manage to get my vespa, we definitely should hang out and have a dinner or something :D

P.S Feel free to drop me any PM if you have anything for me, I'd be glad to answer or respond to it.

Lastly, Cheers to all fellow present/past Vespa Riders, and Thank you so much for your help! :)

Hey good to know you're interested in Vespa. I myself got my 2B lisence because because i love Vespa as well. Just got my new LX150 last month and loving it. As i got a first hand modern Vespa, im not too sure bout the procedues for getting a second hand classic Vespa. Also i think i've read somewhere that Vespa Sprint is not really recommanded as a first bike.

But basically these are what i paid for when i bought mine, base on memory,

Road tax - for 6 months or 12 months

Registration fee

ERP IU

COE and the bank charges associated - last COE was $2502

Insurance - quite expensive for young riders with little experience

Lisence plate

Machine itself

Again these are for the first hand modern Vespa i bought so im sure for you. But there are so many place with good infomation. You can check out Vespa Club SG and their forums, lots of people there to answer your quries. Heres the link for their forums.

Or you can also check out this Wiki.

Hope i've been of some help ;)

Same aspirations as mine when i was striving to get my 2B ! it was the Vespa that made me went and bit the bullet and go for the course and ultimately bought one despite having no friends as vespa riders and also.. family issues. as mine is a 2nd hand, iu and necessary on the road stuff is already included. i paid the following :

transfer fees $8

insurance was around $600+

road tax $48

p-plate $10 ?

to ride around just load up ur cashcard and stock on some parking coupons and u're good. probably invest in a good helmet, rain coat or canvas. thats all.

wont comment on which bike is good for a first bike but my thinking is that if i get too used to smooth, fuss-free bike.. im afraid i will lose patience handling a old bike.. which is why i got a super as my first. learn with it, be patience with it. in fact the reason u shld be getting a old vespa is not performance in the first place. so know the limitations, and u will look back with the fond memories it had given u.

but then again, do survey around first.. good luck with ur bike !

Hi Bro,

I think we share the same interest. I got a liking to scooters, especially Vespas.

I think they are head-turners especially when u got some nice paintworks done with some nice accessories.

Vespa sprint? Maybe i'm new, but i've never heard of the model b4. Specs?

I am aiming for a GT200. I think it's really nice with sufficient power.

Uppzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for this post!

try not to get 1st hand for new riders? pretty pricey insurance and being inexperienced, ur heart will cry when u scratch it inadvertently

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to death, your right to say it.

Hi guys, i will be taking over 20+ yr old PX15 soon. Where can I send it for a thorough check up & repairs?

Go to any shop but Piaggio at Genting Road , went there this afternoon to buy parts for my scooter ,

the very friendly service staff said this

"i told you i don't have this part , you don't waste my time , i am not going to find for you "

and I really regretted going there , go spend money buy parts and be treated like begger.

In the end ,i try my luck in another shop in town .

you can try the spare part shop at short street beside sim lim square that sell vespa parts ,

the 2 auntie very nice , offered to look for my parts and found what i needed !

Thumbs Up !!!!

No it is not ,

it is at the third floor spare part department ,

it is an old guy wearing specs ,

his face black until like i own him a billion bucks .

the service is most lousy one i ever been to .

I was looking for a 260 mm brake disc and belt from Beverly 200/250 ,

they told me they don't carry the stock in singapore ,

But I am prepared to order and pay the money .

I dont think that he is quite interested to serve me ,

And I think he is quite busy , but there is no need to say :

"i told you i don't have this part , you don't waste my time , i am not going to find for you "

but the younger chap at the counter was quite helpful ,but i think the older guy may be his boss so he also keep quiet .

I don't think will go back there anymore .

Some vespa rider friend recommended me to the other vespa scooter spare part shop , they are very helpful and found what i needed .
